🍩Meet the Vendor: Hartman's Bakery Manitowoc🍩

Hartman’s Bakery has been a Manitowoc favorite for decades, filling the community with the smell of fresh donuts, pastries, cookies, and homemade treats for many years. From classic long johns and cut-out cookies to fresh cheesecakes and seasonal goodies, Hartman’s has become a stop so many families grew up visiting. ❤️

In 2019, Austin and Luisa took over the bakery shortly after Austin graduated college. Even with no prior baking experience, the two decided to take a leap of faith and continue the Hartman’s tradition. Since then, Hartman’s has continued to grow, expanding to Plymouth with Neal and Kristen Moegenburg owning that location. Along the way, they’ve introduced new donut varieties, kringles, and other homemade favorites while still keeping the small town, homemade feel customers know and love. 🍩☕️

Hartman’s is truly a family-run business. Along the way, Austin and Luisa have welcomed their two daughters and built not only a bakery, but a life centered around family, hard work, and community. 😊

In 2022, a devastating fire forced the bakery to temporarily close. It was a heartbreaking moment for both the family and the community, but the support from customers and the Lakeshore area helped them rebuild and reopen stronger than ever. Seeing Hartman’s come back after the fire showed just how much this local bakery means to so many people. 💕

You can find Hartman’s Bakery at 901 N 11th Street in Manitowoc and at the market this Saturday! Be sure to stop by early because their treats always go fast!

🐥Meet the Vendor: Rylee’s Duck Eggs and More🥚

What started with 5 little ducklings has turned into a favorite farmers market stop for so many customers 💛

About 10 years ago, Wendy and her husband went on a trip and asked Rylee what she wanted them to bring back. Her answer? Ducklings, of course! 🐣 They came home with 5 tiny ducklings, and that simple request sparked what would become Rylee’s Duck Eggs and More.

6 years ago, they realized no one at the local farmers market was selling duck eggs, so they decided to give it a try, and customers quickly fell in love! Not only are duck eggs rich and delicious, but they’re also packed with protein, vitamins, and healthy omega-3s. Many people who can’t eat chicken eggs due to allergies are still able to enjoy duck eggs, making them a wonderful option for many families.🥚

Today, Rylee’s Duck Eggs and More offers a variety of fresh local eggs including chicken eggs, duck eggs, quail eggs, and even guinea fowl eggs in the fall! 🍂

From a childhood wish to a growing local business, their story is proof that sometimes the sweetest ideas start small 💕 Be sure to stop by, say hello, and support this amazing local family business at the market!

🌵 Meet the Vendor: Grandpa’s Green House 🌵

For many years, Manitowoc Farmers Market visitors have known and loved Grandpa’s Green House and the man behind it, Elroy Kocourek. With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Elroy, a familiar face at the market whose kindness, humor, and passion for plants touched so many lives.

Elroy was truly one of a kind. Even after a devastating farm accident in 1977 that resulted in the loss of his left arm and most of his right hand, he never let it slow him down. Instead, he poured his heart into what he loved most, growing thousands of beautiful succulents and cacti and sharing his knowledge with everyone who stopped by his booth. Many market-goers will remember Elroy in his signature blue jumpsuit, always ready with a story, a joke, or plant advice.

In his passing, Elroy leaves behind more than 2,500 cacti and succulents that he lovingly cared for. His son Michael and daughter-in-law Irene are hoping to continue his legacy by finding homes for these plants rather than seeing Elroy’s hard work and passion go to waste.

By purchasing a plant from Grandpa’s Green House, you’re not just bringing home something beautiful, you’re helping honor a man who brought so much joy to the Manitowoc community.
