We are deeply saddened by the passing of Helen Petrowitz, a beloved member of the Powers Candies family. Helen was one of the original “Candy Ladies” when Kieran and Dee moved the business to the farm and transformed the garage into a candy kitchen. Her journey with us began in the early 1980s, after Kieran stopped by her home following the loss of her husband and encouraged her to stay busy by joining the shop. From that moment on, Helen became an irreplaceable part of our story.
Helen worked alongside us until the spring of 2019, sharing decades of dedication, skill, and heart. In her later years at the shop, she was known for making and coating treats, snappers, and logs, and she reigned supreme as the Queen of Almond Bark and Peppermint Bark. The table where she worked was lovingly known as Helen’s Table, a place filled with laughter, and joy.
Helen’s laugh and bright spirit were always present when she was in the shop, bringing warmth to everyone around her. She lived a full and wonderful life, and we were truly blessed to have shared so many years with her. She will always hold a special place in our hearts and in the history of Powers Candies.
