📢Ohio📢
In the Ohio Senate there is currently a bill called House Bill 125, this bill would permit students to have a limited number of excused absences for 4H & FFA Events. Ensuring that they are not disciplined for attending, it has some holes but it is a definite start.
I will be there first to tell you that my kids learn a great deal outside of the classroom and we LOVE our educators. There is not an ag program at the district we live in or my kids attend. My kids also strive to be at the top of their class, I truly think this hustle of educational success comes from our Ag ventures. Ag kids prove to be leaders for many reasons, they are given the responsibility to keep something alive at a young age. They have to study to do well in their prepared speaking, skillathon, and salesmanship tests, these skills give them the confidence to present with ease in the classroom.
We are the extreme and take our kids to many cattle shows, contests and science reviews ro expose them to the many options in Agriculture. We get truancy letters every year, for these experiences, my kids aren't a behavior issue and their test scores & grades are great. Excused absences would help ease the burden and encourage Ohio kids that their success in Ag matters. It's also important because our county fair falls during the 2nd week of school, their projects are a year round project.
I write this novel to ask that if you are in Ohio reach out to your Local Ohio Senator and ask for their support! https://ofbf.org/2026/04/28/ohio-farm-bureau-hb-125-testimony/?fbclid=IwdGRjcARd605jbGNrBF3rSWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHo73s8A-TVNsfWYzsMXn_1AHD7_V1VyTE4C62aEhmavJuKliCwEifQ3m2uxt_aem_Sdu4yyhdQM_UU0sX8LBpRg
