A quick note about Butcher Bags moving forward:

With animal share season in full swing, we’re going to be spending a significant portion of every week processing shares right up to the holidays. That means some weeks our bags may not be ready until Friday or Saturday, and we may occasionally need to simplify things with larger bulk-style bags and/or smaller selections.

But one thing isn’t changing: We’re committed to putting together a Butcher Bag every week. We’ll do our best to stick to our usual Thursday schedule whenever possible, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility while we work through this incredibly busy season.

🥩 A Quick Butcher Bag Update! 🥩

Between the busy weekend and a few delayed deliveries, we’re running a little low on quite a few things while we wait for more product to arrive today. We have a fair bit of inventory for walk in customers, but not quite enough to put bags together.

The good news is that we’re still doing Butcher Bags this week. We just need a little extra time to get everything together, so we’ll be announcing this week’s bags tomorrow morning instead of today.

In the meantime, we’ve already got two lists going:

Preorders: For those of you who already know you want a bag, regardless of what’s in it.

Call List: For those who would like us to reach out once the bags are ready and we know what’s included, so you can decide whether you’d like one.

🦃 Thanksgiving Orders & Fall Animal Share Update!

First things first, our Thanksgiving turkey/holiday order sheets are ready to go! Give us a call or stop by the shop to get your Thanksgiving orders in.

Now, onto animal shares…

You guys have been keeping us incredibly busy with fall animal shares, and we’re filling up FAST!

At this point, we only have 3 more weeks of availability for fall share orders, and we don’t expect those openings to last much longer.

Unlike our spring shares, where we can typically accommodate additional orders by extending into the summer, once our fall share schedule is full, that’s it. We will NOT be extending shares into the winter.

So if you’ve been considering stocking your freezer with locally raised beef, pork, or lamb for the winter, now is the time to get your order in.

As always, our animal shares are custom cut to your preferences, vacuum sealed, labeled, and ready for your freezer.

If you’ve been on the fence, don’t wait until it’s too late! Give us a call or stop by the shop to discuss your options and reserve your share.

📣 Fall Animal Shares Are Here!

Fall is officially here, which means it’s time to start filling those freezers for winter!

We’re now taking orders for our fall beef, pork, and lamb shares, and to kick things off, we have 2 quarter-cow shares OR 1 half-cow share available for pickup Sunday, October 18th!

Animal shares are one of the best ways to stock up on locally raised meat while getting a wide variety of cuts for your freezer. And with meat prices continuing to climb, buying in bulk is also a great way to stock up at a lower price per pound while supporting the small local farms raising these animals.

Our shares aren’t predetermined boxes of meat. They’re your share of the actual animal, custom cut for you. We’ll go through the entire cut sheet together and talk about steak and chop thickness, roast sizes, package quantities, ground meat, stew meat, and everything in between.

Everything is cut here at the shop, vacuum sealed, labeled, and ready for your freezer.

We have made a small adjustment to our share pricing this fall. The cost of raising animals locally continues to increase, from grain and feed to fuel and other farm expenses, and our pricing has to reflect some of those increases while keeping the program sustainable for both our local farms and our customers. We’ve done our best to make sure we still stay the most cost effective place to purchase an animal shares regardless.

Shares are the best way to fill your freezer, support local farms, and know exactly where your meat comes from.

We have a feeling a few people are going to be disappointed that there are only two left, so we’re going to do our best to put together a few additional simplified Bulk Butcher Bags, likely loaded up with things like ground beef and chicken breast. We can’t promise we’ll have time to make it happen, but we’re going to try. Keep an eye on the page for an update.

What’s your favorite kind of sausage at our shop?

For me it’s probably a tie between venison and the jalapeno black bean sausage, but you can’t go wrong with any of them 🤷‍♂️
