Tips for growing giant pumpkin.

Plenty of sun, water and space required. Growing large pumpkins requires a full sun location, one that receives no shade at any time during the day. A large growing space is also key to producing large pumpkins, so allow a minimum of 500 square feet per plant for vine growth.

The pumpkin still takes between 100 and 120 days to grow, the same length of time as smaller ones. The seed you are using is called 'Dill's Atlantic Giant and it will grow a pumpkin that's generally between 200 to 300 pounds.

Use an organic fertilizer every 5-10 days. We do have a fish fertilizer available for purchase, which is great for all vegetables. Mulch around the main stem with compost, straw, or well-aged manure, 3”-4” deep. Leave 9”-12” of clearance around the stem.

As you are cultivating your pumpkin throughout the summer, remove any secondary blooms. This way the plant will focus on growing the 1 pumpkin.
