🚨 Important Market Update 🚨
Although this has been the very first year of the Springview Sweets Market, it will also be the last. When I called today to check on the status of our 2026 permit, I was informed that the City of Lockport plans to move forward with its own separate farmers market next year, and my permit will not be approved. In addition, they have partnered with another event coordinator who is not from Lockport, effectively pushing out someone who has lived in the town for over 24 years and has remained loyal to the town.
Because of this decision, I will no longer be investing my time in supporting a town that does not support its businesses. This is now the second business of mine that has not only gone unsupported but has also been directly undermined. As some of you know, I have been driving over 1.5 hours each way every week from Indiana to Lockport—even with a brand-new baby—to host this market alone. I simply cannot continue running a successful business if it is being intentionally undermined.
I also want to note that a complimentary full-season space at the market was offered to the city and to every city organization I was made aware of as being involved in the decision to host their own market in direct competition with mine—without any communication with me. None of these complimentary spaces were ever utilized by any of the organizations. I feel extremely taken advantage of, and it appears they are looking to ride on the coattails of the success of the market as there hasn't been a market in years.
💔To my vendors, I am truly sorry. I promised a great season, and between having our permits revoked from the first location and the lack of support from those involved in this decision, my hands have been tied. This has limited how much I’ve been able to do for you, despite my best efforts, and for that I am sincerely sorry. You have all invested significant time, money, and effort in preparation for this season and for the busier seasons ahead. This was a way to support our families and unfortunately, that opportunity was taken from us.
🙏Finally, to all of the vendors, shoppers, and friends who have supported the Springview Sweets Market this season—thank you. Your encouragement and kindness have meant the world to me, and I am deeply grateful for every person who showed up, shared a kind word, or helped spread the word. It has been an honor to host this market and support everyone involved, and I hope to carry that spirit of community forward in new and better ways.
🛒Please continue to shop and show your support at the last four markets in this area, held on Saturdays throughout the rest of September.
