Another Wonderful Day at Four Seasons Farm :-)

Black Raspberries are ripening happily in this bright but not so hot Sun, and for those asking when our Thornless Blackberries will be available, a good news is coming. Some of them are turning reddish already. But hold your horses, :-) it may be another 2 weeks before their U-Pick season will start.

We will be at the Meigs County Farmers' Market tomorrow as always. :-)
With a few Blueberries, some Raspberries, luckily Isabel made tons of her Strawberry Lemonade popsicles :-) Other than that we will have our regular stuff, salves, tinctures, Jams (a fresh batch of my most favorite of them all, Raspberry jam, was just made this week),
Grated Horseradish, Apple cider vinegar and of course, our mostly unusual plants :-)

Our Amish friend's Produce stand is OPEN now :-)
The building it self got a nice face lift and boy, there are so many things you can find there.
Produce (green beans and potatoes coming soon) baked goods,, plants, planters and more.
All Amish made and grown.
Super reasonable prices and friendly service :-)

I would rather work outside in this beautiful and cool day, but nooo :-)
Most of my day was spent inside making another two batches of Sauerkraut. All of the last two batches is gone and I am being asked to make more :-)
This time one batch is plain, no Jalapenos just Carrots for a bit of color :-)
The second one is different and quite unique :-) :-)
We like to grow Purple Mustard which are so much better, in our opinion, than lettuce to be used on sandwiches and such.
But as the weather is getting warmer, those plants are starting to bolt.
What do you do with so many Mustard leaves?
I love to experiment and therefore, why not put it in the Kraut? :-)
Those leaves are spicy, eating them by themselves will put tears in your eyes in a good way, I mean :-) :-)
I think, they will flavor this batch nicely :-)
Lets be patient now, 3 weeks and we will try it :-) :-)

While I was at the Meigs County Farmers' Market these kids came with their parents to "pick" Blueberries.
Parents knew we have no Blueberries to be picked which did not matter much to the kids :-) :-)
They have been coming here for five years
Tradition.....
And remembering Isabel and her popsicles :-) :-)

I plan on restoring our Blueberry patches to some degree but will we have Blueberry U-pick in the future?
Not sure.....
But Blackberry season is almost here and those will be plentiful this year :-) :-)

Getting ready for the
Meigs County Farmers' Market :-)

taking with me plenty of Blueberries, some Black Raspberries,
home made Strawberry popsicles, Salves, Tinctures, Jams (Isabel made a new batch of Blueberry jam :-) yummy :-) ) Horseradish, and Apple cider vinegar.

Plants as usual but this time we got a special order from a friend for Razzmatazz grape plants , and we got a new medicinal herb,
Yarrow.

Friday morning at the Farm :-)

Whole wheat bread is out of the oven, Kohlrabi and young carrots for the day are home, Isabel finished picking berries for the tomorrow's Market, we are busy but LOVING our Peaceful and Stress free life here :-)

I am hiding from this heat and humidity and I work inside :-)
But doing something useful :-)
It took just two weeks since my last two batches of Sauerkraut were made, and I am out of it :-(
Soooo, here we go again :-)
First batch is the Jalapeno kind.

But the Horseradish root is dug up already for the second batch.
It should be more Horseradishy :-) :-) this time, and I start on it after I stuff the first batch in the crock :-)

All done by hand, it is quite a workout I must say :-)
And we must be patient for about 3 weeks now.......

Most people measure time by weekends :-) We measure it by going to the Meigs County Farmers' Market every Saturday.
Even though Isabel does not go as there is no space left for her in the loaded SUV, plus she looks over the Farm when I am gone, she is a huge part of it too.
Tomorrow is the day and we are getting already ready for it :-)
Blueberries (this time I have so many there is no need to reserve them) Black Raspberries (and that is a different story, those are quite limited :-( ) are picked, Sauerkraut is made, I also made a fresh batch of Horseradish paste as I already sold all I made before.
I am happy to find out there are so many people liking and using Horseradish often.
Apple Cider Vinegar is made out of our Organically grown Apples, well, why do I mention the Organic stuff?
Everybody who knows Our Farm knows how strict we are about not using any chemicals on what we produce as food.
Well, perhaps it is for those who just started following us :-)
For a small Farm, I find it surprising that we already have over 10 000 people following our FB :-)
Anyway, just one more important thing I have to say. It will be a Hot day tomorrow, so, for the first time this year, I will be bringing our Strawberry Popsicles. Our Strawberries, little sugar and purified water. That is it. No artificial anything, coloring, preservatives and such. And only $2 per one. Cheap, refreshing, good and healthy :-)

Something you do not see every day....

Cecropia Moth mating in a wild Persimmon tree.
It was getting dark when I spotted them while mowing.
Something so unusual, I called Isabel to see it, and she was happy I did :-)
When they finished, they rested shortly in the grass and flew away...
Cecropia Moth is the largest moth in North America :-)
