Seven years ago today, on May 29, 2019, Isabel and I took over Loeb's Foodtown. The store has been serving Lenox since 1959.
-Leo and Marion Loeb for about 9 years.
-Earl and Lesley Albert for about 51 years.
-And now us, Bernie and Isabel Fallon, for 7 years.
We have cleaned a lot, rearranged, and built. Isabel is still working as hard today as day one (especially having a second store. We hope to have created a warm, welcoming environment with a broadened product mix on the shelves, a quality and speedy deli, and a commitment to reinvesting in the store to make it something Lenox can be proud of.
There is something important about a neighborhood grocery store in the center of town. It's a hub. A meeting place. A place where you can reliably grab what you need.
On any given day, our 15x15 foot deli may have six or seven people making sandwiches, cutting meat, prepping salads, and taking care of customers. It is fast-paced, tight, and full of positive energy.
I love seeing the reviews that refer to our staff as friendly and smiling. That matters a lot to us. We hope to continue that every day.
A favorite thing is when someone walks in carrying the weight of their day, or their current need, and walks out a little lighter. Maybe we had exactly what they needed. Maybe someone behind the counter made them smile. That shift from stress to ease is what gets us up every morning.
Every day is different. Every day has a thousand small things that need attention. We find that fulfilling.
Thank you, Lenox. The store is for the people of the community and hopefully a good reflection of that. We are grateful every single day.
