100 - Bob Gordon Cuttings

Bog Gordon - This is a proven cultivar that has some good size berries and is high on the brix test so those who make wine like it also. The yield is good, takes at least 3 times to harvest them all, a few days apart. The flower heads "bow down" or are inverted once the berries start to ripen which helps protect them from birds. Most people prefer this cultivar if they are going to do a larger number of Elderberry plants to sell the flowers or the berries. If I was going to plant an acre of berry plants, this would be my cultivar of choice. They also can be cut to the ground each year (starting year 2) to help in pest control.

We only have a total of about 200 cuttings this year.

100 - Johns Elderberry Cuttings Only

Johns Elderberry. This cultivar is not what professionals advise for large scale Elderberry farms because they cannot be cut to the ground and come back (the primal cane doesn't grow back). Johns, however, is nice for the personal household and for edible landscaping for the person who wants an easily destemmed large berry. These berries are larger than Bob Gordon and Adams II but there are few over all berries. The larger size helps in getting more pounds for less work. Also, they should be cut back, but you don't have to worry about cutting them completely down, just trimming them as needed. Nice cultivar for the average small farm or household.
If you are growing a larger farm of Elderberries. These cultivars should have 1 other type of Elderberry near by for every 12 Johns plants for better cross-pollination.

The ground should be prepared earlier for these to be placed directly in the ground. They grow when placed in March or April for southwest Wisconsin. Some rooting gel can help roots grow but is not always necessary. The best success is to start the plants in pots or 5-6 inch starter trays (50 cuttings per tray) and get them rooted in your home, greenhouse, or cold frame.

100 - Adams II Cuttings Only

Adams II - seems very similar to Bob Gordon. These berries do not ripen as early as Ranch, but they are early in their ripening. They have large cluster and they have excellent yields. They can be cut to the ground (after the 2nd year) for pest control. These come with instructions on how to plant. They are only sticks (cuttings) and will need to be potted or put in the ground to grow depending on when you want them shipped in winter/early spring. Elderberries are great to make an Elderberry syrup tincture that can build immunity whenever using it, especially during winter months.

These cuttings will grow nicely in pots or planted directly in the ground (if they have not leafed out at all) by being placed in the ground while it is still cold, or barely frozen.

We only have a total of about 300 cuttings this year.

4 pack of cuttings Pocahontas

These Pictures are of a 2 year old plants or their first year after being a cutting.
Pocahontas is a fast-growing vigorous cultivar that is extremely prolific, featuring large flower cymes and berry-heads. Big yields in a hurry. However, it blooms a bit later than other genotypes, so shorter-season plantings may find that berries may not ripen. Cuttings are sold in 4 packs only.
Pocahontas elderberries can grow 12 feet or taller.
These come with instructions on how to plant. They are only sticks (cuttings) and will need to be potted or put in the ground to grow depending on when you want them shipped in winter/early spring. Often BETTER to plant them in cold weather as early as possible and NOT necessarily indoors.
Elderberries are great to make an Elderberry syrup tincture that can build immunity whenever using it, especially during winter months.

The ground should be prepared earlier for these to be placed directly in the ground. They grow when placed in Feb., March or April for southwest Wisconsin. Some rooting gel can help roots grow but is not always necessary.

4 Pack of Ranch Elderberry

4 Pack of Ranch Elderberry!
This hardy short plant seems to be most tolerant to harsh conditions.
This will be one of the first of all Elderberry plants to produce, earlier than the other cultivars.
The stockiness provides a lower fruiting canopy for those short pickers. Single stemmed. Tends to grow upright and is not bushy.
One of the strongest elderberry cultivars, very woody and grows well on less fertile soils.
Grows 5 to 6 feet tall.
Determinate
Sorry, no pictures of the berries, will try to get it next year, this is 2 year old plants.

Fresh U Pick Berries and more...

Started in 2017 - The berries are growing and some will be ready this summer, but much more in 2020. We have honey berries, Raspberries, Red and Black Currents, Blue Berries, Aronia or “choke berries,” Elderberries and Elder flowers, and smaller amounts of Strawberries and Goji berries. We never spray our berries and are working on being certified Organic but the work outside keeps us from being able to do the mountain of paperwork required. For now, you can get a better price by picking it yourself and not having it certified. The Strawberries were fantastic tasting but not enough to sell this year. The main crop this year will be Elderberry - our 1 acre will produce enough for any serious “Elder-junkie” - who wants syrup, jams, jellies, teas, wine or otherwise. Some might even be ready for harvest the first week in July 2019 (flowers only). We should have some Aronia on our 3 acres ready this year too.

You will have to keep yourself glued to this page to know when things are ripe and we are open and ready to help you pick it.

BlacK Currant - many acres ready July 2020 - read about their amazing health benefits: https://foodfacts.mercola.com/black-currant.html
