*** Shipped Egg Tips & Incubation ***

Summer/hot weather shipments:

Place eggs directly in incubation unit. DO NOT let rest on counter as the heat potentially can start incubation itself. Wait 12 hours before starting the turning feature or hand turning to allow fragile air cells to reattach.

Winter/cool weather shipments:

Let eggs rest on counter for 12 hours prior to starting incubation, can still choose to delay turning for first 12 hours to help air cells reattach in unit.

Incubation of chicken eggs take between 21-23 days to start hatching, the first crack made by the developed chick is called a pip. After the first pip, it can take up to 48 hours to fully emerge from the egg. It can at times be tempting to help the new chick out of the shell but often times it best to let nature takes its course as chicks lacking to progress in hatching have beak, neck and joint malformations.

The temperature for chicken egg incubation is between 99.3- 100 degrees. Humidity for the first 1-18 days = 48-55% ~ Day 18 - 23 = 65-75%

This temperature should remain stable and should not change at any point during the process.

**Farm Fresh Eating Eggs**Handling Instructions

Fresh Farm eggs have what is called a โ€œbloomโ€ or cuticle. It is an invisible protective membrane over the shell. It seals the egg from oxygen and bacteria. Grocery store eggs do not have this protective layer and do not last as long!

For the longest lasting eggs, do not wash your eggs until youโ€™re ready to eat them. To wash, just rinse carefully in warm water. Washed eggs last about 2 months in the refrigerator. Unwashed eggs can last about 2 weeks on the counter and about 3 months in the refrigerator.

If you decide to wash your eggs before storing them, make sure they are completely dry before placing them in the container.

To check to see if eggs are fresh or not, fill a bowl about 5 inches of cold water and gently place your egg inside. Very fresh eggs will sink to the bottom and lay on their side. If an egg stays at the bottom, but stand on its small end, itโ€™s still fine to eat; just not quite as fresh.

Oldest eggs will be easiest to peel if making hard-boiled eggs ๐Ÿฅš
