🌙Good Evening, Friends! 🌙
Is it just me, or are these days getting shorter and shorter? Seems like we blink, and it's already dark outside! We feel like we don't get nearly enough done in a day anymore! 🤣
Today was a little bit of everything here at Halfmoon Family Homestead! 🏡❤️
🐓 Some worked on the house.
🔨 Some took down runs and moved them to new locations.
🌾 Some went and picked up hay for winter and got it unloaded.
🪿 Some went goose hunting.
🦌 Others checked deer blinds.
Just a good ol' mixture of chores, hunting, and getting things ready for the colder months ahead!
We've got another BUSY week ahead of us, but that's homestead life! There's always something that needs fixing, moving, feeding, building, or cleaning! 🤣❤️

Good Morning Freinds
Whewww, doing morning chores in this cold weather has my fingertips FREEZING!!! 🧤❄️
Our little week-old chicks came out with Momma for breakfast this morning. Oh my goodness, they are just the cutest little fluff balls! 🐥♡
Our little free-range bunny decided to follow me around while I was feeding everyone. Of course, I had to drop him a little something! 🐰♡ He loves hanging out by the quail pens, like he's part of their little family!
And the SHEEP!!! 🐑🤣 Oh, those silly babies! The minute they see those pink feed buckets, they start BAAAAING and racing toward the door, thinking they're next! They sure know where their breakfast comes from!
It may be a crisp, freezing cold morning, but there's something so special about watching all the animals get excited when they see us coming.
Cold fingers, warm hearts, and happy animals! That's homestead life, and I wouldn't trade these little moments for anything! 🏡🐓🐑🐰
Now, if only I could get these fingers warmed back up! ☕🔥🤣

🌞 Morning, Folks!! ☕❤️

Another beautiful morning here at Halfmoon Family Homestead! 🌞

We're still plugging away at getting everything ready for winter! ❄️ Between preparing coops, keeping the animals happy, and tackling our never-ending to-do list, there's never a dull moment around here! 🐓🐑🐇

🚜 NEXT SATURDAY!! We're heading to Gladwin for the Mid Michigan Farm SWAP! We always enjoy seeing familiar faces and meeting new farm-loving folks! ❤️

🍗 WINTER HARVEST TIME! We'll also be butchering our first round of American Bresse chickens and quail to help fill our freezers for winter! There's just something special about raising your own food and knowing exactly where it comes from. YUMMY!! 😋

🌻🐓 GOOD MORNING 🐓🌻

☕️ Rise and shine, friends!
The roosters are crowing, the chickens are making a fuss, and everyone is waiting for breakfast! 🐔❤️

We had a little surprise here on the homestead! One of our free-range broody hens hatched 2 precious little chicks! 🐣🐣
We decided to move Mama and her littles into their own small coop and run. We wanted to give those sweet babies the best chance to grow up safe and healthy.

Yesterday, I helped my brother work on the sheep's coop, and today we're tackling 2 new duck coops and runs! 🦆🔨

And would you believe we STILL have 2 free-range chickens running around at our old property?! 😂🐓 Those little stinkers are smarter than we are when it comes to catching them! Sneaky chickens!!

🍂 OUR HOMESTEAD TO-DO LIST FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS:
🐓 Mix up our winter feed.
❄️ Tarp and plastic the runs to block those cold winter winds.
💦 Switch out waterers for bowls.
🐦Sort through our quail for butchering.
🏡 Pick up a few more loads from the old homestead.
🥣 Get some homemade broth canned and put on the pantry shelves.
And I'm sure there are about 100 OTHER THINGS that aren't even on that list! 😂
Homesteading is a never-ending adventure!
There's always something to build, something to fix, animals to feed, or food to preserve.
Some days are exhausting, some days are pure chaos, but at the end of the day, we're building the life we dreamed of, one coop, one animal, and one project at a time. 🏡♡
We wouldn't trade this crazy, beautiful homestead life for anything!

🐓🍂 Well, Well, Well… It's Been a CRAZY Busy Week Here at Halfmoon Family Homestead! 🐑🐇❤️
Whewww!! We've all been busy as can be, getting everything ready for the colder months ahead! ❄️🍁
Winter prep is in FULL swing around here!
🐓 Chicken Coops: Getting everything winterized, switching out water containers, and starting to mix up our winter feed.
🦚 Pheasants: We'll be adding brush to their run, raking everything up, and possibly putting tarps along the sides to help block that cold winter wind.
🐣 Quail: Still need to get straw and make sure our little feathered friends are cozy for winter!
🐑 Sheep: They'll be getting an addition to their shelter to give them some extra room and protection from the weather.
🐇 Bunnies: New bunny houses will be getting built soon! Gotta make sure those fluffy little cuties have cozy homes, too!
❤️ Homesteading is NEVER-ENDING!
Just when you think you're getting caught up, you turn around and find 10 more things that need doing! 🤣
But you know what? We wouldn't trade this crazy, muddy, exhausting, beautiful life for anything! There's always something to build, fix, feed, clean, or prepare.
It's a whole lot of work, but it's a whole lot of LOVE, too! 🌻🐓
Where the chores never end, the animals come first, and there's always another project waiting! ♡
