Mahalo to my godsister Arlene, her husband Boyett (Edison), their daughter, my godbrother Kevin, and my Ninang for stopping by.

They come from one of those longtime Lahaina families that so many people know.

It’s always nice catching up with people we grew up with and seeing familiar faces walk through the door.

Today my Ninang came by to say hello.

“Ninang” is what we call our godmother in Filipino culture, and I believe she’s the only godparent I have left.

After the Lahaina fire, she moved to Las Vegas to be with her daughter’s family. She told me she’s not planning to move back to Maui, but she’s here to visit.

And I have to say… she looks great. ❤️🤙🏼

It was so nice seeing her again.

Mahalo to Arlene, Boyett, and Kevin for bringing her by. It was really good seeing all of you. 🥰🤙🏼🌺

P.S. I don’t know why the audio got weird toward the end, but I loved seeing her laugh and smile so much that I kept the video anyway. 🤙🏼

The KXLU 88.9 FM shirt caught my attention, so I asked,

“Are you on the radio?”

He smiled and said, “Yeah.”

Then, without missing a beat, he started talking in his Rattler voice. 😂🤙🏼

He had just touched down on Maui and was ready for a Spam musubi…

It was late afternoon… we’d already sold out. 😅

He told me nobody’s supposed to know what he looks like, so I only filmed his shirt. 😂🤙🏼

I got to meet him… but Auntie’s not very good at remembering faces or names anyway. I remember stories. 🤙🏼

Your secret’s safe with me.

One of the best parts of working at Olowalu is all the people we get to meet.

Every smile has a story. Some are here for the food, some are hunting for the perfect Maui keepsake, and some just stop to talk story for a little while.

These are just a few of the faces that made our day a little brighter.

I looked up… and caught him taking a picture of me while I was filming them. 😂📸🤙🏼

I guess we were both trying to capture the same moment.

We all had a good laugh, and they walked away with their Olowalu hot dogs and a fun memory from the stop.

The thing is, when it comes to age-restricted products, we don’t guess. Some people are just hard to tell, and we’d rather check an ID than get it wrong.
