1974 was the start of Russell's Sauces journey, when Russell was tasked with creating a barbecue sauce for a large Cajun cochon de lait (pig roast) in Henderson, St. After this event, Russell spent 14 years of trial and error, perfecting his recipe. The result was an exquisite blend of sweet, hot, savory and sour with just the right cayenne heat to satisfy his palate. This Original sauce has since

When doing tasting demos, I tell people that our "Spicy" version "Lights up your lips, and starts a party in your mouth! And EVERYONE is invited!" I could have labeled it "Hot", but to my taste buds, it is not quite. Let's just say it has "personality"!

Our new co-packer delivered our first shipment of Russell's Cajun BBQ Sauce last week, and we have our better than ever Original and Spicy in most of the local stores. We no longer have soy or sulfites in our award winning products. For those who shop at the Johnston Street Albertson's, look for that smiling face on the updated label on the endcap of the condiment aisle!

Russell was inspired to create the ultimate barbecue sauce in 1974, after being asked to prepare the sauce at a big Cajun cochon du lais (pig roast) in Henderson, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. Russell was finally satisfied only after 13 years and countless recipe changes. With just enough cayenne heat for his own taste, the finished product is the ultimate blend of sweet, hot and sour. It is this Original sauce that won Russell numerous Blue Ribbons and Best In Show awards at the parish and state levels as well as at numerous BBQ festivals and rib cook-offs.
