Hello Dear Friends, I know we all have the upcoming weather on our minds. Here at Joyful Acres we are just being smart and putting away plants and closing up barns, but we know Who controls the winds!

Remember my Milkweed patch under my abandoned basketball goal that I talked about a few weeks ago? Well, it is now FULL of life! The blooms are overflowing and so very fragrant. More insects than I could even try to identify are enjoying themselves with this lovely native pollinator.

Farm management at Joyful Acres is a full time job that sometimes is physically painful!

One of our lovely chocolate Muscovy hens hatched 6 ducklings on May 26, and she is the most fierce Mama!!

All of us have gotten bit while trying to feed them or give them water.

However, today was the day to move them outside out of their protected nursery to their enclosed run.

Had to fight with mama a bit and then cover her with a towel and remove her first and then came back for the babies.

Now they are soaking up sunshine and eating bugs and grass and living their best duckling life! 🤗❤️🦆

Looking to add some Muscovies to your farm? These 2 babies are for sale. Ideally together or at least to a farm with other ducklings of similar age. Please message me if interested.

May be hot and muggy early June, but for us that means pumpkin planting!! 11 varieties in the ground and more to follow this week.

Sweet potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes are all green and healthy.
