A few days ago I found the elk in a hell hole. I didn’t get up the nerve to try and get one as the pack out would entail 2800’ of vertical ascent back up the hill and it is not possible to pack them out downhill. For the last two days, after talking myself into the go for it mentality, I have been unable to relocate them. Sucks getting old and cautious since I am hunting solo and have no packers to help. Oh by the way Hells Canyon and the surrounding area is just a tad steep.

People ask why I fish and hunt. Well besides loving eating fresh wholesome food, the scenery and exercise have a huge benefit to my well being both physically and mentally.

The tail end of fishing season came with unfortunate breakdowns but the motor has been fixed. Currently we are taking a little reprieve from fishing and filling our freezer. I kind of won the lottery and have all kinds of tags out west so we are working on that. First small deer should hit the freezer today.

We did do some fishing and a few hikes. No fish or animals were harmed!

The F/V Morning Bite and crew would like to thank you for all of the support this summer. I know we left a few requests un filled but one minor breakdown and one major breakdown limited our days at sea this summer. We always take a small break during the season but missing that many days was uncharacteristic for our business. I hope to do a little winter king fish between December and March but there will be no more landings in September. Thanks again.
