It's that time of year again...
Egg sales are down because everyone dyed eggs at Easter, and now no one wants to eat anymore eggs for the next few week (us included). We have 20 dozen eggs available at the moment. Stop by and grab a couple dozen when you finally feel like eating eggs again. TIA!

Stamping more egg cartons today. We would like to thank everyone that returns our cartons to us. This helps keep our overhead low.

On another note we still have plenty of eggs available. The drive is clear and the hut is stocked.

$5/dozen or $9/2 dozen

WE HAVE EGGS!
Don't feel like driving to the store in this cold weather?... The driveway is plowed and the path to the hut is clear. The eggs are stored in a warmer that is at just a high enough temp to keep them from freezing (but not high enough to incubate them). Our birds from late last year have finally started to lay and we once again are getting around 2 dz eggs a day.

There are 5 dz eggs in the hut now and we have another 7 dz in the house. Stop on by and grab you some!

$5/dz or $9/2dz

It's official, the days are getting longer. What does that mean for Penmae Farms?... Our egg production is up! We are now producing nearly 3 dozen eggs a day. Stop by and grab a dozen (or two). We currently have 13 dozen in stock.

We are excited to announce that we have chicks in the house!
20 babies arrived by mail yesterday. This is the first time we have ordered chicks and I have to admit, it was kinda cool.
Anyways, the babies are pullets (sexed female birds). Half are Black Copper Marans; these ladies should lay the deepest brown eggs we have ever seen. The other half are Prarie Bluebells. These ladies are a high produced of blue eggs, so that we can start adding a bit more color variety back into our dozens.

Side note, chickens don't start laying eggs until they are approximately 6 months old. Therefore we will not see our additional quantity or color variety for some time yet. But it should be noted that the hens that we bought in fall 2022 have started laying. This along with the days getting longer, has increased our production.

Whoa! I never get to make posts like this... We currently have a back stock of eggs! There are 5 dozen in the hut and we have another 6 dozen in the house waiting to go out!
Because it is so cold I don't dare put out more eggs than our warmer can hold for fear of eggs cracking. But as soon as it is emptied I'll add more.
Stop by and grab yourself a dozen (or two) if you need them. $5/dz.

Yaya! Our ladies are starting to lay more eggs! Not only are our older birds through thier molting, but our "medium" birds are laying too! I know our supply has been short the last few months, but it is getting better everyday!
Stop by and grab a dozen!

I'm heartbroken today.

Today I went to put eggs in the hut and collect the cash from our cash box when I noticed something weird. The box had a piece out of place. When I opened the box I realized all the money from the past several weeks was gone. Someone had pulled so hard on the top of the box they bent the locking mechanism.

The money that we raise from our eggs goes directly into out daughters' "future funds." Not only did they steal a couple hundred dollars from our kids, but now we need replace our cash box, and I am now questioning if we should have one at all.

It makes me so sad that someone did this, but what do ya do?

We have a new box on order, but until it arrives and we can get it installed we are not accepting cash. Venmo only please.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding.

Update:
He came home last night. Rick opened the basement window, and he came around sometime after I went to bed. I hope now that he has a taste or the great outdoors this doesn't become a reoccurring problem.

Hey neighbors and friends. Our cat Stache snuck out of the house this morning. On the very rare occasion that this happens he usually stays on the porch. But today, he has been missing all day. If you happen to see him please let us know.
