The storm that destroyed our garden and vehicles but spared us !

05/21/2026

Well this year’s garden has been a challenge to put it mildly. The lettuce returned but it’s 1/3 of what would have been after the tornado. Swiss chard and parsnips looking good but lots of weeding. Thought the tomatoes would try coming back but that was wishful. The okra and peas I planted before the storm mostly were washed away from the 8 inches of rain. 3 squash out of 36 survived well. Also 3 green beans. With all this into account and loosing all the mulch and drip lines I feel a do over is in the making. Very thankful for all those who have stepped up to help us with plants. Special thanks to a friend allowing us to come pick their garden. As we move forward in this new challenge we would appreciate your prayers.

Water system for garden has been replaced and repaired. We are seeing glimpses of growth from damaged plants that are still in the garden. We laugh when we see the okra and blackeye peas that I planted last Sunday afternoon. Most are not even close to where they were planted. Blessings for a fellow gardener allowing us to pick their abundance for our family. God continues to provide and amaze us.

Keep finding the effects of the storm. We must replace all 1200 ft of drip tape due to hail damage. This was new line. 15 mil. That hail was no joke ! Still trying to locate gas cap to water pump.

Unfortunately due to weather events from Sunday evening I will be unable to have market at the Gap Methodist Church this Saturday or any other times at the moment. Our garden was completely taken out.

Mother Nature released a powerful baseball size storm on us yesterday about 6:30 pm. Needless to say it’s annihilation here. Photos to come.
