The Journal Square Green Market started over 20 years ago and was overseen for a long time by The Friends of the Loewβs Theater. The Journal Square Green market was created nearly 20 years ago as one of the first Farmers Markets in Jersey City. The Journal Square Restoration Corporation has operated the market since 2015 and in that time we have seen enormous growth in our connection with the community and providing delicious fruits, vegetables, and other goods.
Journal Square Green Market connects farmers, artisans and makers with the Jersey City & Metro NYC community. Located near Journal Square PATH Plaza, the Green Market was established to accommodate the increased consumer demand for locally sourced and grown goods and a high volume venue for merchants to sell them. We encourages micro-entrepreneurs in the areas of food, art, crafts and design. We strive to broaden the customersβ experiences while also building a consumer-maker relationship. It is a unique opportunity to shop directly from out of reach farm food, emerging new makers and established artists to find one-of-a-kind items and everyday necessities. Our mission is to engage the community support handmade goods as an alternative to mass-produced items and work to cultivate small business and entrepreneurship by providing a thriving plaza for them to sell. This year Artist & Maker Market (AMM) has partnered up with the Green Market to bring a full festive shopping experience complete with live music and food.
The Green Market will operate this year every Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm starting Wednesday, May 1st, 2019.
