The repair job on the 39-1/2” x 71” Elm and clear epoxy table turned out phenomenal! It’s as flat as can be and now free of bubbles!
Only had to take slightly over 1/4” off to get past the troubled top coat.

Im really nailing down the proper technique with the router gantry system from TrueTrac . Learned a few new tricks today🤫. Its amazing what this system can do with a good table. I can flatten MASSIVE slabs and epoxy projects with a max travel of 76” wide x 153”long (6’4”x12’9”).

First pass (first picture) you can see it breaking through the bubbles. Then it clears up nicely.

Let me do some “splanin” about slab flattening so we all have a better understanding of what is going on here. This is an epoxy table that needs the top coat removed. See the video for an explanation as to WHY this needs done, as well as some clarification on the process that applies to ANYTHING that goes on this table. Check it out!

That beautiful quarter sawn oak bar top is going to be a counter top in someone’s kitchen! What a great slab for that. Kiln dried, Flattened and ready to go!
A few other slabs including more oak and black walnut will be a bathroom vanity, shelving and another table😎

BOARD FEET!! WHAT IS IT??!!

Why do we use it in lumber/slab sales???

Board feet (BF) is a standard unit of volume measurement used in the lumber industry. One BF is equal to 144 cubic inches. For a visual, that is a slab or pc of lumber
12” wide x 12” long x 1” thick.
The important part is, NO MATTER the size/shape/thickness/length of the pc of wood, If you can find the volume you can calculate the BF. It is a fair and universal way to put a price on the product (or milling service) based on its size.

Each species of wood has its own prices per BF based on their Market Value. Additionally, when the slab or lumber gets bigger (wider, longer….) the price per BF can go up because it may be less common to find them in the larger sizes. There is also significantly more work required for larger logs/slabs.

Example:
A Live Edge slab averaging 36” wide x 10’ long x 2.5” thick

In inches
36 x 120 x 2.5 = 10,800

10,800/144=75 BF in that slab.

Now you can sleep at night!! I know this BF trivia was keeping you awake, tossing and turning 🤣. Your welcome.

Price list has changed. Check it out. It is the PINNED inventory post at the top of my page. A few things went down in price.
Since I have the attention of all 3 of you that read my post…😅…I have recently changed the way I price my portable milling/slabbing service. I do NOT do it by the hour any more.

Price is now done by the true board foot in the log. Starting price is .80c a BF. Milage still applies.

Additionally, its now an option to have me bring a mini skid steer to move slabs for you.
