How we got started . . . .
A group of people got together around a year ago to come up with a solution for fresh affordable food access in the community when a local independent grocery store had closed and left neighbors with no options. I, Odessa, was invited in to be a part of this because I had already been operating a local food co op called the Indys Community Food Co Op. We had several meetings and set plans to start a farmers market in the fall of 2018 but life happened and those plans took a backseat for a bit. In November of 2018, we found ourselves in a 10k square foot warehouse building space and decided to jump in and try out the market. Winter is not really the time to start a farmers market in Indiana due to such harsh temperatures and weather. Everything happens all in due time though, and it couldn’t have been better than it turned out. We have formed the best group of vendors and built friendships and developed business plans and ideas as a group! Now we are off to the Spring/Summer/Fall farmers market in a new location, excited, and ready to bring more awesome to you together!
