Faltin Meat Market Custom processing for beef, pork, lamb, goat, & wild game. Faltin Meat Market has been a part of Howells, NE, since 1947 as a family owned business.

AWARD winning meat & sausages available for retail in our store front (during business hours) AND in our Meat Room vending machines (on the corner of 2nd & Center), OPEN 24/7! It was acquired by Ryan Baumert, current owner and operator, in January 2006. Ryan is a Howells native and received his education in this arena from The University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he was awarded his Bachelors of Science and Master’s degrees in animal science with a specialization in meat science before moving back to take over Faltin Meat Market. Since Ryan’s ownership, he has successfully continued some of the traditions from the previous owner, Dave Faltin, but has also upgraded a few pieces of equipment, incorporated new products into his line, and added a selection of ammunition for retail sales. Check out our selection of retail products under our ‘menu’. Faltin Meat Market continues to provide high quality, affordable, custom slaughter for beef, pork, lamb, and goat as well as all other wild game, including deer, elk, beaver, antelope, turkey, etc. Additionally, Ryan & his staff work hard to produce award-winning meats and sausages as specialty orders and for sale to the public. During business hours, all of these products are for sale at Faltin Meat Market, but during non-business hours, a selection of Faltin Meat Market products can be found at Main Express (232 N 3rd Street). We slaughter on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays by appointment only. Wild game can be brought in during business hours for processing at a later time. Call Ryan at Faltin Meat Market to schedule your animal for slaughter or to place an order for your next family gathering! Prices will be discussed at that time,if requested. We look forward to hearing from you!

🚨Deer season is almost here…so, please TAKE NOTE of the CHANGE in our usual process!🚨

We wish there were more hours in each day so we could keep up with deer & our usual routine, but unfortunately that’s not the case.

Thank you for understanding.

🌽 A Prayer for Our Farmers🙏

Our farmers are facing incredibly difficult conditions with excessive rain, flooded fields, and an uncertain harvest. Let’s come together in prayer for our farmers, their families, & the land they work so hard to care for.

🙏 If this prayer speaks to you, please share it so we can surround our agricultural community with prayers and support.

We are praying for sunshine, dry fields, and brighter days ahead. ☀️🌾❤️

We usually don’t share posts, but this was to accurate not to. We’ll add in that buying from LOCAL farmers & LOCAL butcher shops not only helps your family, but it also helps others in your community too! 😊

I know… I hear it all the time.

“Meat is so expensive.” Maybe. I’m not naive. But I would certainly encourage you to start really comparing…deeper than what the food industry tells ya.

A bag of Doritos is about $5.49. A box of cereal is easily $5, and then you still need the milk.

Nobody looks at the Doritos or cereal and says, “I just can’t justify spending that much.” Moms everywhere throw them in the cart because “it’s what they eat.” They disappear in a day, and no one is actually full. Somehow, the nutritional content even managed to go backwards while the price kept climbing.

But somehow, we’ve been taught that the red meat is what’s too expensive. Maybe even “bad for you” 😂

Help me understand that.

I’m not saying grocery prices aren’t ridiculous. I’m feeding six people…I know exactly what food costs. I know what it feels like to stand in the aisle, do the math in your head and wonder how a cart of groceries became so outrageous.

But if that cheaper processed food leaves you hungry and hour later, gives you little to no legit nutrition and comes with a pile of ingredients your body has to sort through… was it actually a deal?

Or did we just get better at calling expensive junk “affordable” because it comes in a bright package?

We’ll spend $5 on chips, $7 on a sugary coffee, $10 on a fast-food meal and $8 on a box of snack bars without blinking. Then we act like a package of ground beef is an outrageous luxury.

There’s a difference between buying food that costs more per pound and buying food that costs more per meal because it never satisfies you. And what about the long game cost… does that not matter?

We’ve been trained to look at the price tag instead of the value. We look at cost per box, not cost per serving. We look at convenience, not nourishment. We look at how cheap something is today and ignore what bad programming and poor nutrition offer down the road.

What do we even consider real food anymore?
Because putting something in a colorful package, giving it a two-year shelf life and placing it in the grocery store doesn’t automatically make it food. A product can be technically edible and still be a terrible foundation for a family’s diet.

At some point, we have to stop pretending that the cheapest packaged option is automatically the most responsible choice…or that real food is somehow the problem.

Maybe the real cost isn’t just what we pay at the checkout. Maybe it’s what we pay when we keep feeding our families products designed by food scientists, marketed to children and sold as if they’re equivalent to a meal.

So yes, compare prices. But compare what actually feeds you. Compare ingredients. Compare how long it lasts. Compare how you feel afterward.

Because “cheap” and “worth it” are not the same thing.

🌭🔥 **LET’S TALK ABOUT COOKING OUR AWARD-WINNING PRODUCTS!** 🔥🌭

You bought the GOOD stuff—now let’s make sure you COOK it the **Faltin way!** 😉

For the **best results, our links & hotdogs should be STEAMED.** The water is what keeps our products juicy, flavorful, and DELICIOUS!

**PLEASE DON’T SKIP THE WATER!** 💦
Grilling, heating them dry, or overcooking them can change the TEXTURE and take away from the quality you know and love.

We put a lot of pride into making our award-winning products, and we want you to enjoy them at their BEST! 🏆❤️

**Thank you for supporting our small business** Your support means the WORLD to us and allows us to continue providing quality products and service to our community.
