The coturnix quail are living it up here at Roo's Realm! 🎊⭐️

Aviary and coops have all been cleaned out and redecorated. 🌻
We had 2 broody mamas hatch out some babies, and we had a 3rd broody mamas who hatched and is keeping a couple of babies! 🪺This is a feat considering quail don't typically sit on a nest and they are usually terrible parents 😅

Now we are excited to be loading up the incubator with Black/Banded-Black, with Andalusian, and with Celadon eggs. 🖤💙🩵

Plus we are hatching Button Quail to add to our homestead! 🤩 and next month we will add Chukar Partridges. 👏🏼

Excited for the developments and to see how our coturnix colors continue to develop! 🥰

Here's your reminder that you can't always know everything and that's okay. Live & Learn. 👌🏼

I did research before and when we got our 5 Turkey poults from Meyer's Hatchery. All was well and we love our turkeys! 🦃

Fast forward 2.5 months, one is suddenly dead in the barn. 😓 I knew about coccidiosis (worms) and other issues to keep an eye out for; but I'll openly admit that I didn't know about Blackhead Disease, I didn't know something could affect turkeys and not chickens, and we didn't see any signs until it was too late since they had mixed with our free-range flock. 📝🦠

Immediately started treating our other 4 who seem to be doing well. And had the pleasure of picking up 2 new babies from Jessie Lynn who have already settled in for snuggles! 🤎

There's always more to learn and there's always the unknown. But we care for our animals and continue learning to be able to provide the best care we can for them. And we're here to walk the homesteading road with anyone & everyone! 🥰
