5 years of providing farm fresh eggs to our communities, attending Hot Springs Farmers Market.

With our campground opening July 1st and us offering farm tours with that, the farm will focus on poultry related tasks only and educate people.

* How to candle an egg, inspect so it can be "officially" sold under an egg dealer license.
* Set up and operate an incubator to hatch healthy chicks.
* Brooder set up to make sure they are not too hot or too cold.
* transition coop and period until they are ready to be put with the "big" hens and roosters
* how to maintain the coop, feeding schedule, egg collection.
* how to butcher a chicken

I haven't had a special chicken for a while. My favorites have all died off... :-(

Look at this little cutie! So much smaller than the others! If it gets a "p**f" on the head than Bullwinkle, my white Silke, is the father...lol
Hatched with the last batch on May 25th and is the ONLY brown one...
I shall name him/her (hopefully) Brownie... lol

Well, we did a thing... 😊
We just opened 5 beautiful camping sites on our family farm!

Welcome to Valley View Camping Retreat!
Located right off Highway 89 between Edgemont and Custer, we offer spacious, roomy sites with some of the best unobstructed views of the mountains and valley around. No cramped lots here — each site is nicely spread out so you can truly enjoy the scenery and stargazing at 4,700 ft elevation.

These hatched 04/30 and are now fully feathered at 4 weeks old. They will get moved to our "transition coop" hopefully tomorrow if the weather permits.
They need to grow a little bigger to be mixed with existing hens, probably around 8 weeks.

NOTE: These are ALL spoken for but we are hatching more!

(Those two darker brown ones are turkeys and NOT for sale! ;-) )

We gladly take the rain, since we are still under a drought, but the wind and hail we do not need...lol
We are also a bit behind on getting outside stuff done because of the wearher...
