One person’s w**d is another person’s treasure.

Stinging nettle is one of those plants that gets a bad reputation because of its sting, but once properly handled, it has been valued for generations as a nutrient-dense herb packed with vitamins and minerals.

Many people enjoy nettle in teas, soups, tinctures, and other herbal preparations. Once dried or cooked, the sting disappears, leaving behind a versatile plant that has been used traditionally to support overall wellness.

We have an abundance of stinging nettle growing here at HVVN Farm and would be happy to provide it fresh cut or carefully dried and prepared for anyone interested in trying it.

Turns out becoming a beekeeper came with an unexpected plot twist.

After years of loving bees, I recently found out I’m allergic to my own hives and we have officially used the EpiPen twice in one week. Not exactly the farm girl storyline I imagined.

But spring waits for no one, and neither do honey bees. Swarm season is here, the honey needs checking, and these girls still need cared for, so we suit up, layer up, keep the smoker going, and play it safe.

Beekeeping is magical, terrifying, fascinating, exhausting, and rewarding all at the same time. Sometimes within the same ten minutes.

Still completely obsessed with these tiny little creatures and so grateful for the humans that guide, support, and love me and my bees!
