Produce back in this week: collard greens, red bunched radishes, Japanese yams/sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts. If you like russet potatoes, we have some older ones on sale for .79/ # (bagged in cooler) as well as a new box of russet potatoes, for 1.39 #.

Here are this weeks produce specials:

Russet potatoes are 50% off - .79/ #!
Broccoli, Bok Choy, cucumbers, Granny Smith apples, and fresh baby dill are 20% off.
Green onions, leeks, cilantro, arugula and last of spinach are 10% off.

You can make a potato leek soup with russet potatoes, leeks and fresh dill - all on special.
If that is too warm, make a tabouli salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, and parsley, and anything else you choose to add.

We know produce prices have been higher. Here is the produce that is on sale this week:
Broccoli, Bok Choy and Cauliflower are all 10% off;
Russet potatoes, garlic, parsley, artichoke, white jumbo mushrooms and Granny Smith apples are all 20% off

Seems like a number of folks have been getting sick. If you still haven't started a batch of Fire C***r, we have really nice ginger and turmeric roots in stock, plus 20% off garlic. Be prepared to fight off the wee beasties that try to invade your throat and respiratory system.

Some of you have been asking where our greens from from. Our bulk / loose spinach, arugula and spring / field mix are all from Earthbound Farms. Our romaine and red butter lettuce are CalOrganic brand. For what is worth, all of us who work and volunteer at the Co-op have been eating all of the above greens before and during the entire time of the Cyclospora issues with the shredded iceberg lettuce in the midwest, with no issues. Fortunately for those of us in California, we still have regulations and inspections for food safely. They have not been relaxed or stopped like in some other states.

Happy Produce Day! Back in are red butter lettuce, leeks and brussels sprouts, Goddess melons, Yellow Doll watermelons and black mission figs. New: Gala apples for $1.49 # and white jumbo organic mushrooms, which were sent to us instead of Crimini mushrooms (sorry, no criminis until next Thursday). We are trying out the idea of keeping fresh dill available all the time. Fresh dill is tasty in potato soups, on fresh tomatoes, and in green salads. You can also chop and freeze it or dry it for future use. $1.65.bunch.

Produce came in on Thursday! We have now butternut squashes from this month’s harvest, fresh turmeric root, and red beets with tops (which are 20% off). Nectarines are done for this season and melons are coming to a close, but we did get Goddess/Ambrosia musk melons this week. Maybe your last chance?

Fresh ginger and turmeric root are 2 important ingredients in fire c***r, plus garlic which is 20% off. Start your fire c***r now to be ready for cold and flu season. Also, we have plenty of dry waxed cardboard boxes which make excellent fire starter, when cut into small pieces. Stock up while you are getting your firewood in and be ready for that unexpected cold morning.
