🍓 Strawberry planting done! ✔️
Very grateful for our sons Spenser and Micah, and daughter-in-law Aubrey, for their help this morning. 🥰 Clyde drove the tractor 🚜, Aubrey and I pushed 3,000 plants into the holes made by the planter 🌱🌱 and Spenser and Micah made sure they were pushed in well. Glad to have that job behind us! 🫡

Rows made, plastic laid, and Today is Planting Day! (First 2 pics were this month, 3rd is from last fall.) If you'd like to come see us planting in real time, feel free to come out to the farm later this morning. We'll get started about 10:00, and it will take about 3 hours.

We used to do this ENTIRELY by hand. Clyde would make the rows with a shovel and rake, lay the plastic out and cover the edges by hand, and we'd spend Days planting, by hand. THANK THE LORD for tractors and equipment!!! And willing help, still. 😇

Some years we have raspberries just about right up to frost, but this year they are all but completely done already (and there have only been stragglers for several weeks now.) I found a handful for a snack, but that was pretty much all there were. It's a long time til next berry season! (Strawberries are first, come April!)

Every summer, Clyde pulls out the strawberry plants that were harvested in the spring, and in the fall we plant new baby strawberry plants in a different area, to be harvested the following spring. This year, where he pulled out this spring's strawberries, he planted me a little pumpkin patch! 🎃 I'll have plenty of cool pumpkins to decorate my porch and entryway, and there might, I say MIGHT, be a few to sell... we'll see! I took these pictures a couple of days ago. They're looking great!

Our "fall" red raspberry crop is happening much earlier than expected! 😱 The plants are loaded but we only have 2 rows, so u-pick will be by appointment only.
