I’ve done a 180 with this page, and honestly? I’m okay with it. ❤️
I’ve learned A LOT since starting this journey in May.
I’ve been called a newbie who knows nothing. I’ve answered questions, helped buyers work through situations, and had more conversations about chicken keeping than I can count. I’ve spent hours sharing what I know, and trying to be a good resource for people who are actually new to chicken keeping.
And then I was lied to. Used. And honestly, I’m still trying to wrap my head around how easily some people can do that. I’m not soft, but I’m human.
Honesty and integrity are big things for me. When those are missing, I’m okay walking away, even when it hurts.
After putting so much trust and genuine effort into this community, I’ve come away feeling a little burned.
Then I started seeing more of the drama that seems to follow the chicken world online, and I realized something: that’s not what I want this space to be about.
I got into chickens because I love them. I love the learning, the surprises, the beautiful eggs, the ridiculous personalities, and the stories that come with raising them. I love sharing what I learn and helping others along the way.
So that’s where I’m going back to.
More storytelling. More general chicken education. More honest, unfiltered chicken-keeping REALITY. More motherhood, homesteading, funny moments, lessons learned, and the things that make this life what it is.
I’m still working toward NPIP certification because I still want to share my eggs with you. That goal hasn’t changed.
But I’m learning that I don’t have to build this page around selling eggs or fitting into a particular corner of the chicken community.
I can build it around what I genuinely love, what I have to share, and who I am.
This page might look different from what I originally planned, but maybe that’s the point.
I’m not giving up on chickens. I’m just finding my way back to the reason I started. 🐔❤️
Welcome to the next chapter of The Red Shed.
If you’ve read this far, I appreciate you. I see you. ❤️
