Caught up with more visitors from east to west! Janice lives in Buffalo, NY and was here with her brother, Rick. And from Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. John and Carla Jansen stopped by with John’s sister, Shirley and Charlie from Apple Valley, Ca. Carla found a vintage stoneware crock for John to carry home!

Introduced in 1936, Spartan is a cross between the McIntosh and Newton Pippin apples. Developed by the British Columbia Experiment Station, the flesh is firm, snow white and notably brisk, conveying a sweet flavor and pleasant aroma.
C***r this week is particularly sweet. We have a bumper crop of Gala apples to process and their sugary flavor is a wonderful addition to our early season c***rs.

Introduced in 1923 from the University of Minnesota, the Haralson apple is extremely winter hardy and popular with northern growers.
The white flesh is mild tasting, somewhat tart, crisp, juicy, and tender. See if you note the scent of pineapple or lime. Haralson is recommended for eating fresh, making c***r, and baking. It won't collapse in the oven.
