I'm sad that the beekeeper with which I've done business for many years is retiring. So, I've been testing beeswax from all over the Midwest for the past few months. I'm excited to report that I just returned from an over 1100 mile road trip to bring back of the best beeswax I could find, from one of the very best apiaries that I could find. I genuinely like and respect the people with which I choose to do business. Having a true connection is SO important. This particular apiary has been a family business for over 100 years!! They are wonderful people with a great product. (Side note - They rescue dogs!) The color is AMAZING. The scent is savory floral - it's Sunflower beeswax!

Stay tuned. I go on another mission late next week to yet another apiary with which I'm excited to be creating a relationship. They have a beautiful mid summer clover blend. If cozy were a scent, that is what it would be - a sweet, cozy scent with a lighter yellow color.

I'll now be offering TWO completely different floral variety PURE beeswax candles that I know you are going to love. They will be available at my holiday market sales starting in November! I'll also make them available on my online store soon after.

Special thanks goes to the Cook County Co-op for providing producers with a $1,000 scholarship to help move their businesses forward. I received one of those! It is helping me purchase more wax than I had anticipated which allows me to keep my pricing as low as I possibly can so that my PURE beeswax candles are accessible to more people. THANK YOU!

The co-op turns 50 this year!!!! Isn't that wild?! Thank you to founding members, current owners, shoppers, volunteers, tourists who stop in, and past & current employees, and board members. We can't wait to see what the next years (not to mention the next 50) bring. The cooperative grocery movement boomed in Minnesota in the 70s and has helped advocate for better food, better environmental practices, and better labor practices across the country. Everyone deserves to know where our food comes from, what's in it, how it got to us, and that every step of the way the people involved were treated well & paid fairly. We've had A NUMBER of locations across Grand Marais and Good Harbor Hill (which one was your favorite? let us know in the comments) and are so thankful to be at home in historic downtown Grand Marais on the lovely east bay of Lake Superior. How many grocery stores have a lake view?! Again, to everyone who's been with us along with us for the last 50 years - thank you, thank you, thank you.

Owners: join us to celebrate our 50th at our annual meeting! (YES there will be cake, cookies, and ice cream - thanks to the Co-op Deli, Crosby Bakery, and Superior Creamery). It will be held on Weds, Oct 21 from 5-7pm, at North House Folk School in the Blue Building. Treats to start then business meeting...then more treats!

We 💘 the VPC! Thank you to all who round up at the register. Every penny goes towards the organization.

We just need to say a huge THANK YOU to the Cook County Co-op ! Because of their partnership and continued support their round-up raised the Violence Prevention Center nearly $4,000!!

Every cent goes directly towards client services in Cook County. We cannot thank the Co-Op enough, thank you for believing in us and investing in our community. 💜🩵
