🍁🏈 HOMECOMING, FALL FESTIVALS & FLOUR EVERYWHERE! 🍂

It’s a BUSY week around the Koons Homestead! Shelves are beginning to get stocked and will be completely full Saturday Evening!

It’s Homecoming week for BOTH the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes AND the Ohio University Bobcats! 🧡💚

Throw in fall decorating, fall festivals, football games, and all the wonderful things that come with October, and our family is BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

But don’t you worry! Somewhere between ball games, after ball games, before festivals, and probably long after everyone else has gone to bed, I’ll be in the kitchen baking!

Because fall baking just might be my favorite kind of baking! 🍁

Here’s what’s coming out of the Koons kitchen this week!

There will be flour on the counters, cinnamon in the air, football on the television, and probably a few late nights fueled by coffee and determination!

But that’s October around here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

So enjoy the games, cheer on your favorite teams, visit those fall festivals, and soak up every little bit of this beautiful season!

🍂🏡 JUST A LITTLE REMINDER OF HOW THINGS WORK AROUND HERE! 🏡🍂

For our new visitors and even our regulars, here’s a little reminder about Koons Homestead Market!

🕰️ HOURS: 7 AM – 10 PM

If you pull in and the doors are closed, go ahead and step inside! Sometimes we close them because of the weather, and sometimes it’s because the country critters think they should have free rein of the place! 😂

❤️ WE ARE AN HONOR STAND!

That means we aren’t always around, but you’re always welcome!

You’ll find our big red cash box for cash payments, along with instructions for Venmo and Cash App.

We even have Wi-Fi available because, well… we’re in the country, and cell service out here is somewhere between terrible and really bad! 😂

🍪 WHEN DO WE STOCK?

Our biggest restocking happens Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, but we’re baking and adding goodies periodically throughout the week.

🥧 YES, WE TAKE ORDERS!

Need a homemade pie, cake, bread, cookies, cobbler, or an assortment of goodies for a special occasion? Just send me a message! We love baking for you!

☕ COME ON IN AND STAY AWHILE!

You don’t have to buy a thing to sit down and take a little break. Have a seat, enjoy the country air, watch the birds, enjoy our goofy animals and let the world wait a few minutes.

Or just pop in, grab your goodies, and head on your way. Either is perfectly fine with us!

🐓 AND ABOUT THOSE ANIMALS…

We have crazy dogs. Scout and Sally out front Woody by the barn. They bark, sometimes a LOT, but they’re friendly, they are just saying hello.

We have cats, that will come running to greet you, then act like they don’t know you the minute you try to pet them.

And yes, occasionally there’s a chicken or a bunny running loose.

We don’t always know how they got out either. 😂

Things aren’t always perfectly tidy, the animals don’t always cooperate, and there’s usually something going on around here.

But that’s life on our little homestead, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

You don’t have to dress up, hurry up, or even buy something to be welcome here.

Come for the goodies. Stay for a visit. Look around. Breathe in some fresh air. Leave a little happier than when you arrived.

🍲🍂 SOUPER SATURDAYS START THIS WEEKEND! 🍂🍲

Fall has officially arrived at Koons Homestead Market, and that means SOUP is here!

Each weekend we’ll have ready-made homemade soup. Pick some up for an easy Saturday dinner, a quick meal during your busy week, or save it for a cozy Sunday lunch after church. ❤️

And since the hot summer sun has finally decided to give us a break, we can add some of the goodies we’ve been missing!

❤️ What God Taught Me Today

Lately I’ve been struggling with a question.

Am I doing enough for God?

And somewhere in that question, I started feeling like maybe I wasn’t enough.

That’s a terrible feeling to carry into a relationship with someone you love so much.

Because I truly, truly love God.

I start my mornings with Him. I end my days with Him. I pray throughout the day. I try to serve Him. I try to love people well. I try to forgive. I try to listen when He nudges my heart.

And I still mess up.

I still worry.

I still question.

Sometimes I fall short of the person I want to be. And I’ve been carrying guilt about those things.

But today I found myself thinking…

When did I start believing I had to earn something God already gave me?

His love.

God certainly asks things of us. Following Him changes how we live. Sometimes obedience is difficult. Sometimes He asks us to loosen our grip on things we’d rather hold onto.

But I don’t believe He’s standing over me with a checklist waiting for me to finally do enough to become worthy of His love.

I can’t earn grace.

That’s why it’s grace.

Maybe being a good disciple doesn’t mean I never struggle with whether I’m doing enough.

Maybe it means that even in the struggle, I keep reaching for Him.

God, I don’t have this all figured out.
But I love You.
I trust You.
And when I get it wrong, give me the grace to get up and walk with You again.

I will never do everything perfectly.

I’m human.

Human failure is inevitable.

But so is God’s love for me.

And today, I really needed to remember that. ❤️

NEW RECIPE ALERT!

These are GOOD. 😋

We live right here in the heart of Buckeye Country, and loves a good Buckeye.

Well, we decided to bump it up a notch.

🍪 BUCKEYE COOKIES!! 🍪

A big chocolate cookie topped with that creamy peanut butter Buckeye goodness and finished with chocolate.

Basically, we took a Buckeye and said,
“You know what this needs? A COOKIE.” 😂

And we were right.
