Porch time with the farmer, and Petunia, and every cat from a mile away hoping for some of what is in that bottle! We are talking about some of the ways we monitor sheep health and a major killer of young ewes is summer parasites! Being vigilant is key, but understanding how to minimize parasite habitats is also helpful, lol. We want to be deworming as little as possible because dewormers disrupt the nature’s system for reclaiming the nutrients in our manure, thus slowing the natural cycle of nutrients! Improving our systems with an eye for prevention, rather than treatment, is the long term vision. Either way, flock health monitoring is here to stay.
