Love isn’t just a feeling. It’s a decision you make every single day.

It’s the decision to show up — not just physically, but fully. Heart open. Hands ready. Spirit willing.

This moment right here? This isn’t just a celebration. This is the FRUIT of choosing love when it was easy AND when it was hard. Of choosing kindness when the world gives you every reason not to. Of choosing partnership when everything around you says “do it alone.”

God didn’t design us to walk this journey solo. He designed us to walk it TOGETHER.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

To anyone scrolling right now who’s wondering if real love still exists — it does. But it’s not found. It’s BUILT.

Tomorrow I turn 54.

So today I did what I always do — I laced up and ran.

2 miles. Blazing sun. Coconut water in one hand. Faith in the other.

You know what nobody tells you about getting older? It doesn’t have to mean getting weaker. It doesn’t have to mean slowing down. It doesn’t have to mean accepting less from your body.

I’m not out here because I have to prove something. I’m out here because God gave me this body and I refuse to waste it.

He gave me the food to eat. He gave me the legs to run. He gave me the lungs to breathe. He gave me the roadmap — I just follow it.

53 was good. But 54? 54 is going to be DIFFERENT.

Because every year I don’t just age — I LEVEL UP.

Faster pace. Stronger body. Deeper faith. Better fuel. And the same sun that tried to stop me today just watched me finish.

If you’re over 40 and you’ve been telling yourself your best days are behind you — stop lying to yourself. Your best days are the ones you decide to show up for.

Tomorrow isn’t just my birthday. It’s proof.

Proof that when you follow God’s plan for your body, age becomes nothing but a number on a cake you probably shouldn’t be eating anyway. 😏

53 years old and entering 54 tomorrow.

Pre-birthday run, I celebrated by lacing up my sneakers and running 2 miles in sunny Florida.

No excuses.
Just me, the road, and 365 feet of elevation gain.

2.01 miles. 15 minutes 14 seconds. 7:35 pace.

You want to know the crazy part? A few weeks ago I was at 8:51. Then 8:45. Then 8:17. Today? 7:35.

I’m not slowing down. I’m SPEEDING UP.

At 54.

While the world tells you to “take it easy” after 50. While doctors hand out pills. While the industry says you need a $1,000/month injection to feel good.

I ate what God made. I drank my water. I laced up my shoes. And I ran.

No GLP-1 injection’s, No shortcuts. No excuses.

Just the roadmap He already wrote.

Psalm 18:33 — “He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He causes me to stand on the heights.”

Stop telling me healthy food is boring.

Look at this bowl. LOOK AT IT.

Grilled meat. Fresh guacamole. Chickpeas. Cherry tomatoes. Olives. Peppers. Corn. All of it loaded, all of it colorful, all of it REAL.

This isn’t a “diet plate.” This isn’t rabbit food. This isn’t suffering in the name of weight loss.

This is what happens when you stop letting the food industry tell you what to eat and start eating what God actually put on this earth for your body.

Every ingredient in this bowl grows from the ground or walks on it. No factory. No lab. No ingredient list you need a chemistry degree to read.

And here’s the part nobody tells you — when you eat like this consistently, something happens that no pill, no shot, and no 30-day crash diet can do:

Your A1C drops.
Your energy rises.
Your inflammation goes down.
Your body starts working the way it was DESIGNED to work.

I’m 53 years young. I eat like this most of the time. And I feel better right now than I did at 33. That’s not genetics. That’s not luck. That’s a CHOICE I make every time I pick up a fork.

1 Corinthians 10:31 — “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

The road to 54. In a few days I will be leaving chapter 53 and entering chapter 54.

Not slowing down. Not “taking it easy.” Not accepting the lie that your best years are behind you.

I will be turning 54 years young on Thursday. And I want to tell you something nobody told me at 30:

Your age is not a countdown. It’s a RECEIPT.

A receipt for every prayer that got answered. Every tear that turned into a testimony. Every morning I showed up when my body said stay in bed. Every mile I ran when the world said men my age should be sitting down.

53 was truly amazing. And I mean that. Not because everything went perfect — but because every imperfect moment taught me something that made me stronger, sharper, and closer to who God designed me to be.

But I’m not here to celebrate what’s behind me. I’m here to ANNOUNCE what’s ahead.

54 is bound to be EPIC. Filled with continuous grace.

See, grace isn’t a one-time gift. It’s a CONTINUOUS supply. New every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23 — “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”

Every single morning you wake up is another deposit of grace. Another chance. Another mile. Another rep. Another opportunity to honor the body and the life God gave you.

So here’s what I want you to hear today — whether you’re 24 or 64:

Stop counting the years like they’re working against you. Start counting them like they’re working FOR you. Every year you’re still here is proof that God isn’t finished with you yet.

The enemy wants you to believe your chapter is closing. But God is over here writing a SEQUEL.

54 and just getting started. This next chapter? You’re not ready for what God has planned. But I am.

It’s Men’s Health Week. And while most men scrolled past that news this morning, I was already outside.

3.52 miles. 27 minutes. 955 feet of elevation gain.

Let me put that in perspective for you.

955 feet. That’s climbing a 95-story building. With your legs. Before most people finished their first cup of coffee.

But here’s what I want you to understand — this post isn’t about me. It’s about YOU.

Well, because years ago, this wasn’t me either. I was the guy making excuses. The guy who said “I’ll start Monday.” The guy who knew something was wrong but kept choosing comfortable over changed.

Look at my face in this picture. That’s not just a smile. That’s FREEDOM. Freedom from the old version of myself. Freedom from the lie that said “you’re too old.” Freedom from the pills, the shortcuts, and the quick fixes that never fixed anything.

My pace progression tells the story:
8:51 → 8:45 → 8:17 → 7:43 → 7:51 (with 955 ft of hills)

I didn’t get slower. I got HARDER on myself. More elevation. More distance. More hills. I stopped looking for the easy route and started chasing the climb.

Proverbs 24:16 — “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.”

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to get up. Lace up. Step outside. And take the first step. Then take another one. Then don’t stop until you’re the person God DESIGNED you to be.

This is Men’s Health Week. Men are dying 6 years younger than women. Not because we’re weaker — because we stopped FIGHTING. We stopped moving. We stopped caring for the temple God gave us.

“I Don’t Run Because I Want To — I Run Because I Have To”

I’ll keep it raw: some mornings are hard, the couch calls, and the excuses are endless. But skipping isn’t really private — God knows, and so do I.

Discipline isn’t about motivation or feelings. Especially after 40 and 50, your body stops forgiving. Miss a week, lose a month. Miss a month, lose a year. I’ve watched people in my church and family pay that price with diabetes, heart disease, and early death — most of it preventable.

So I run — not for medals or Instagram — but because my body is a temple, my kids need to see discipline, my community needs a living example, and God gave me this body on loan.

Your “run” doesn’t have to be running. It’s the salad over the fries, the early bedtime, the prayer before the scale. Whatever it is — stop waiting to feel like it.
