Job Summary

We are seeking a results-driven, hands-on Assistant Plant Manager to lead daily operations at our USDA-inspected poultry processing facility. This individual will be responsible for coordinating all departments—including production, quality assurance, maintenance, sanitation, and logistics—to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant meat processing from start to finish.

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader in the meat industry with deep knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP systems, and personnel management.

Responsibilities

3+ years experience in meat or food processing operations (USDA-inspected facility preferred)

2+ years in a leadership/management role

Strong understanding of USDA inspection processes, SQF, HACCP, and food safety systems

Experience supervising multiple departments and leading diverse teams

Solid analytical skills with ability to manage budgets and production metrics

Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities

Ability to work in a refrigerated, fast-paced, production environment

High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Business, or related field preferred

Job Description

Cluck Ya Poultry is a producer of Air Chilled chicken located in Gardiner, Maine. We produce natural, halal, anti-biotic free poultry items from local farms here in ME and VT. As part of the team, you will assist in the sales, marketing and administrative functions with our growing organization. We are looking for a motivated individual who wants to come in and develop into a leader for future opportunities.

Responsibilities
• Represent Cluck Ya Poultry in Maine, MA, NH and VT with distributor partners in field with new and existing customers
• Order entry of all Cluck Ya Poultry orders
• New business development activities driven by the VP, Sales and Marketing
• Account management work with existing accounts to up sell and promote new items into all distribution channels
• Social Media management with Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and others as needed
• Lead direct to consumer program management with planning, new partner acquisition, product development and growth strategy
• Customer deliveries into market as needed
• Merchandising and Planogram ex*****on with current Supermarket partners

Qualifications
• Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
• Sales and Marketing experience in CPG
• Presentation and Public Speaking experience with focus on selling process
• CRM experience
• Must be able to lift 50lbs. on a regular basis
• Ability to operate a refrigerated non CDL vehicle as needed for customer deliveries
• Must be able to keep an organized workspace clean.
• Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift, bend, handle repetitive motions throughout the day.
• Maintain good personal hygiene.
• Must be able to read orders and complete simple math
• Communicate clearly with team members in a noisy environment.
• Must have reliable transportation and clean driving record
