The Fulks Run community lost a beloved member, Miles Turner. Miles and his wife Marcella owned Fulks Run Grocery from 1969-1996.

During their ownership, Miles was instrumental in starting the boneless ham line of product and started the cooked ham craze that continues today. He would sell a bone in ham, then for $20 extra he would debone, cook, and slice it for you. You also got the bones and two quarts of broth – a good deal for the early 90’s!

Around the same time, they started the fundraising sandwich business. Even after selling the store, Miles continued to be a vital part of the country ham business by helping with cooking and slicing during the busy Christmas season.

For those who knew Miles outside of the store, you know how much he enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes. He has the distinction of being the only person to land an airplane on the store roof…He’s also the only person to take off from the store roof!
