Two Coves Farm, run by the Grady Family, has been in business since 2009. They are a family run grass farm in Harpswell Maine, where they graze cattle, laying hens, and meat birds, and more. The Gradys also produce hay and high bush blueberries! Aside from the wonderful eggs and meat, Two Coves Farm also takes part in sheep dog demonstrations at fairs. They train their own border collies as protection for the chickens, and of course to wow the crowd at the demonstrations.

Come by the market today, anytime between 10 - 1, for some fresh eggs or meat from Two Coves! And for any vegans out there, no need to worry we have plenty of plant based vendors to choose from as well, see you soon!

Harry and Robin Silverman, the owners of Tripping Gnome Farm, started their business in 2022. Their original focus was on mushrooms, and they quickly expanded to grow other produce in order to create micro greens. These are very finely chopped greens that simplify the addition of veggies to any meal, all you have to do is take a pinch of the micro greens and mix it in for some added nutrients. Harry and Robin also work with a family member who has a freeze drying business. This collaboration allows them to have zero waste, which is very important to them.

Tripping Gnome also really values Community. At their farm in Freeport, they have free disco golf open to the public as well as two event spaces that can be rented out with an overall goal of bringing people together.

Robin and Harry owned their Freeport land for a few years before deciding to move up from western Massachusetts. Robin taught highschool latin and was the dean of students for 30 years, until their youngest child graduated and they retired to start farming full time. They signed up for the Freeport Farmers Market before they even started growing and have now been with us for 3 consecutive years.

Pay them a visit at Memorial Park this Friday anytime for 10am - 1pm!

Farthest Field is one of our many wonderful vendors this year. Owners Alyssa and Nathan started their up business back in 2021, moved to Freeport in 2022, and are now onto their 3rd season here.

Both Alyssa and Nathan grew up gardening. When they met and recognized their shared goals and passions, they knew it was a perfect match. Along with the farm, Alyssa instructs yoga in Portland and has become well known for her contra dances that she runs.

One thing that sets Farthest Field apart from other farms is the technique they use in their gardens. Alyssa and Nathan choose no-till farming, which is an agricultural method where crops are grown without disturbing the soil. By cutting out tilling, they are preserving the soils natural structure and organic matter. This helps reduce erosion, improve water retention, and support healthier soil ecosystems. This tactic allows Alyssa and Nathan to grow plentiful crops, enough so that they supply all of the ingredients for their vast homemade sauce collection along with the fresh produce they sell. These sauces are sold in many stores, as well as at our market every friday!

If you are after some fresh produce, or looking for a new sauce to try, or even both, pay Alyssa and Nathan a visit this friday anytime from 10am - 1pm 🥬

Avalon Acres, a Farm in Hollis Maine, is one of our many wonderful vendors this summer. The owner, Micheal Levine, is with us every Friday, always supplying a beautiful array of fresh produce. He has a little bit of everything, some of his personal favorites being eggplants, cabbage, and cauliflower as of this Friday!
Micheal and his wife, Mary Katherine, moved to their property in 2020 and started their business up 18 months ago later. They refer to their business as a Spirit Lead Farmstead, with a mission to lead people back to their natural selves. Micheal focuses on the farming aspect of the business while Mary Katherine runs the tiny homes they rent out on the property. She also runs solo retreats where people are given the opportunity to spend time in alone in nature without the distractions of our typical modern world. Along with these retreats, Mary Katherine organizes a monthly women’s group.
During the off season for the farm, mainly through the winter months, Micheal works for the Midcoast Symphony as an executive director. His background in theatre helped him to develop his passion and skillset for directing these productions.
Micheal and Mary Katherine would like to say a special thank you to the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. They wouldn’t be where they are today without the support of MOFGA. Firstly, they were certified by MOFGA, but the association doesn’t end there. They supplied Micheal and Mary Katherine with access to many other educational recourses necessary for starting up the successful business that they run today.
Come pay Micheal a visit this Friday, anytime between 10-1, for some fresh veggies and a warm smile 😊
