🌟Nonprofit Spotlight - ICAN
Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN) pairs expertly trained service dogs with Indiana adults, children, and veterans living with disabilities, creating partnerships that make a lasting difference. As the state’s only accredited service dog organization, ICAN upholds rigorous standards to ensure every dog is prepared to transform a life.
What makes ICAN unique is its dual mission: most of its dogs are trained by incarcerated men and women in three Indiana prisons, giving the handlers purpose, skills, and a chance to contribute something profoundly meaningful. Their work prepares each dog to become a life‑changing partner for someone in need, creating impact on both sides of the leash.
ICAN also supports military veterans in the Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana region by offering them the opportunity to train alongside their future service dogs, strengthening the bond and building confidence throughout the process.
Together, these interconnected efforts create a powerful cycle of hope, healing, and opportunity that reaches every person ICAN touches.
