🐟✨ THE OPAH HAS ENTERED THE CHAT! ✨🐟

🚨 RARE CASE ALERT! 🚨
Opah is officially in our case — and if you’ve never tried it before, THIS is your sign. 👀

The Opah we have in the case came to us from San Diego, but here’s something really cool: Opah are also found offshore in our waters and are caught and packed by local long-line fishermen! 🌊🎣

And this fish is seriously unique…

One Opah can give you FOUR completely different cuts, and each section has its own flavor AND texture!

🐟 BELLY — Think pork chop, but seafood! This section has a MASSIVE amount of natural fat. Fun fact: you can actually deep-fry the belly without batter or coating because the natural fat renders and essentially coats the fish itself. 🤯🔥

🐟 CENTER SECTION / “FILET MIGNON” — A gorgeous, rich center cut that has even been used as an albacore replacement in sushi bars throughout Southern California. Perfect for searing, grilling, or enjoying as sushi. 🍣

🐟 STRAP — Beautiful texture, incredible flavor, and gorgeous flakes that make Opah such a unique fish.

🐟 BACKSTRAP — You can actually see the silver skin running through this section, giving it a slightly chewier bite. The flakes are beautifully rounded and follow the natural structure of the fish. 🤌🏼

💡 OUR FAVORITE IDEA: Cut blackstrap into small pieces and throw it into a stir-fry with fresh veggies! 🥦🥕🫑

🌊 ANOTHER FUN FACT: Opah isn’t a targeted species — fishermen aren’t heading out specifically to catch Opah. It’s a bycatch, but an edible and highly valued one. When harvested responsibly, it’s a beautiful way to enjoy a fish that might otherwise go unused.

And because we DON’T GET OPAH OFTEN, you’re definitely going to want to grab it while it’s in the case! 👀🐟

Would YOU try Opah?! ⬇️
Comment 🐟 if you’ve had it before or 🍣 if you’d try it!

✨ Fresh catch. Rare find. One seriously cool fish. ✨
