🌈 The more you know 💫
By law, a farmer can store their eggs for 30 days before packaging them and they can be sold up to 30 days after the date it was put in the carton.
That means supermarket eggs can be two months old by the time you buy them and should be eaten 4 to 6 weeks after that … that’s a potentially 3 month old egg 😳 it’s still safe to eat, but when you taste a fresh egg you will notice a difference! Even when you buy our eggs in one of our local stores it’s packed within 2 weeks, normally just 1 week, after being laid!
Over 81% of all commercial laying hens are in flocks larger than 30,000. Housing over 1 million hens on a commercial farm is normal.. suddenly my flock of 50 doesn’t seem so crazy! I guarantee they are happier and healthier!!
It’s no wonder the free range, pasture raised eggs we eat and sell not only taste totally different but are full of goodness and nutrition due to their natural diet and being so fresh!
