Fargo-native Andrea Baumgardner got her culinary start at Leeby’s, the area’s original artisanal market and delicatessen. A college year abroad in France and Spain ignited her passion for food, after which she pursued her culinary degree at CCA in San Francisco. She worked at Alice Waters’ Chez Panisse (the James Beard award-winning farm to table restaurant), Arnold Wong’s Eos, and Carlo Middione’

s Vivande, all in the Bay Area. In Los Angeles, Andrea was the founding chef of Cobras and Matadors, named one of the “top 7 new restaurants of 2001” by the LA Times. That year, she was coaxed back to Fargo to launch the fine dining restaurant at the Hotel Donaldson. In 2008, together with her business partners Steve Heiland and Peter Kelly, Andrea opened the Green Market. Her relationships with ranchers, small farmers, and local artisans, coupled with her diverse interests and experience makes Green Market Kitchen a standout food destination in the Midwest and beyond. Green Market Kitchen is dedicated to local, sustainable, whole foods whenever possible and an eclectic, daily-changing menu.

March 30, 2013: Green Market’s Farewell*

We will be closing the restaurant as of the end of March. The restaurant has been a consuming passion for the past six years and we are looking forward to new passions in our lives.

It has been a joy and a privilege.
