Let’s talk about Vital Blend.

Why do we blend heart and liver into our 100% grassfed ground beef? It’s all about nutrient density.

By adding a small amount of organ meat, Vital Blend delivers more protein per serving while boosting the naturally occurring vitamins and minerals found in every bite.

Recent nutrient testing confirmed that Hickory Nut Gap Vital Blend is a rich source of:

• Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
• Vitamin B3 (Niacin)
• Vitamin D
• Zinc
• Selenium
• Copper

A “rich source” means one serving provides more than 20% of the recommended daily value.

It’s an easy way to add more nutrients to your favorite recipes—burgers, tacos, meatballs, chili, and pasta sauce included.

Find Vital Blend at Harris Teeter and Whole Foods Market stores throughout the Southeast, or order online for home delivery.

June is Pollinator Month! We're excited to celebrate with some of the incredible insects we've spotted at our home farm and partner farms throughout our network. 🐝🦋

From butterflies and moths to honey bees and bumble bees, these pollinators play a vital role in healthy ecosystems. By intentionally managing diverse pastures, preserving natural habitats, and encouraging a variety of flowering plants, we're helping create landscapes rich in food, shelter, and nesting opportunities for pollinators and other wildlife.

Regenerative farms do more than produce food—they also provide important habitat for the species that help keep ecosystems thriving. We're always looking for ways to support greater biodiversity, and it's rewarding to see these beautiful pollinators making themselves at home.

Happy Pollinator Month! 🌼

Every day, America loses 2,000 acres of farmland.

As farmers reach retirement age and development pressures continue to grow, keeping farmland in agriculture is becoming increasingly challenging—especially here in North Carolina, one of the states most threatened by farmland loss.

At Hickory Nut Gap, we believe thriving farms are essential to a resilient food system. That's why we work with family farmers across the region, creating markets for regeneratively raised meat and helping ensure farmers are paid fairly for their work.

When farms are profitable, they're more likely to stay farms.

Every acre matters. Every farm matters.

What makes a great salami?

It starts with great pork.

Our salami is crafted from pasture raised pork raised on family farms, then slowly cured to concentrate the rich, savory flavor that makes salami such a timeless staple. Made with simple ingredients in small batches, each bite has a satisfying texture, a rich depth of flavor, and the kind of quality you can taste.

And because it's shelf stable, it's always ready when you need it. Keep one in the pantry for an impromptu gathering with friends, pack it for a picnic, or pair it with crusty bread and your favorite cheese for an easy summer meal.

You can find Hickory Nut Gap Salami at Whole Foods Market in the southeast, and other local shops around the Asheville area. Pick up a few varieties on your next shopping trip and taste the difference that starts on pasture.

Today was a tough day for many of our neighbors with flash flooding in areas still recovering from Helene. It brought back some hard feelings and memories.

At the same time, after weeks of dry weather, the rain was much needed at the farm. The pastures are soaking it in, the creeks are flowing, and the grass is thankful given our extreme drought.

Moments like this are a reminder that resilience matters. As weather patterns continue to shift and climates change, farming is no longer just about producing food, but how to adapt alongside the land.

Regenerative agriculture is part of that foundational change. By building healthier soil, increasing water retention, mitigating erosion, and strengthening natural ecosystems, farms can become more resilient through both drought and heavy rain. It’s long-term work, and it doesn’t happen overnight. At HNG, we believe healthy land is essential for healthy communities. These days that feels very real.

Wishing safety, strength, and recovery for everyone affected today.
