Our back yard.

Since Sep. 1, the has responded to 14 new wildfire starts, 10 of which have been human-caused. So, we'd like to remind everyone, but particularly hunters, to use the drown-stir-drown-feel method to fully extinquish campfires before leaving them unattended. More information about this method is available at https://smokeybear.com/campfire-safety.

The East Fork Fire, a human-caused start on the , has grown to an estimated 260 acres. Three helicopters, a hot shot crew, and a suppression module are actively engaging the fire where it is safe to do so. Fire managers are also taking into account the incoming weather system, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall. Further updates will be provided as fire behavior dictates.

Happy to report that the County had two graders moving yesterday, from Warswick turnoff to McHan, so far. The other was at Owens Creek corner 🙌🏻 They also graded Fleck to Bear Creek the day before this.

The is now 15% contained and still 161 acres. The fire has mostly stayed within its footprint the last two shifts.

Overall, fire behavior was moderated today, without a visible column. Now that the fire has moved outside of some of the heavy timber, the flames have minimized. This is especially true on the east side, where little heat is being found. The northeast corner is secured.

Now crews will continue working hotspots along the perimeter and getting depth on the areas that are secured. The firefighters are working the remainder of the spots outside of main fire that happened from rolling timber.

Crews are still being supported by helicopters, scoopers, and fixed wing planes.
