1. The word Salad comes from the Latin salata (salted) because vegetables were seasoned with brine or salty oil-and-vinegar dressings during Roman times.

2. While dark leafy greens are seen as the healthiest options, even milder greens like iceberg lettuce can provide over 10% of your daily folate and nearly 40% of your vitamin K requirements. Start adding other vegetables, fruits, nuts, or proteins and it is no wonder salads are so nutrient dense!
