Get to know one of our Board members, Eric Brown! Eric is the Downtown Manager for the City of Eugene. We asked Eric to give us some insight on the market and his role on our Board.

"I love seeing all of the people engaged in something social, healthy, local, and beautiful at the farmers market.

I'm a Tuesday Market Man. I like the calm, peaceful vibes, the smell of fresh produce, baked goods, and prepared food. It is a great excuse to get out of the office, take a stroll, buy something delicious (a snack or groceries for the week), and bump into a colleague or community member- I get a lot of informal, creative work done between those market stalls!

My job at the City of Eugene is to make downtown a place where people want to spend time, bring friends and family, support local businesses, and connect with each other. LCFM is a very tangible expression of those goals. I'm proud to have been a part of designing the Pavilion and opening it to the public in 2022. As a board member, I get to contribute to the continued evolution of the organization and the occupancy of the space.

We've been very fortunate over the past few years, growing the market and the services we offer to community members and vendors. Financially, we are in a good place too, and I'd like us to invest in our staff and vendors that make markets possible, making sure those investments are sustainable and resilient through inevitable challenges we'll face in the future.

One market myth I'd like to bust is that the Saturday Market ≠ Farmers Market! I guess it doesn't really matter and it is probably a positive that the lines are blurry on a bustling Saturday in the Park Blocks, but ya'know, they are different organizations ;)"

CB McGillivray returns to LCFM for the third time this Saturday, June 6th. In CB's cooking demonstration, he will teach you how to make a simple wrap packed with fresh, raw ingredients. Greens and peas, miso, flax and pumpkin seeds; easy eating, delicious, and rewarding.

This In Season cooking demo starts at 11AM and 12PM inside the Pavilion, and is FREE to attend!

About the chef:
"CB is a multidisciplinary artist living and serving here in Eugene. He is a poet, painter, experienced cook, gardener and farm hand. CB currently works with Community Supported Shelters, a local, 13 year old nonprofit helping unhoused individuals rebuild their lives."

New location. Same summer energy. ☀️

The Downtown Athletic Club officially begins instructing community classes tomorrow, 6/2, at the Farmers Market Pavilion!

Every other Tuesday from 11am - 12pm, enjoy a FREE movement class hosted by the Downtown Athletic Club and the Lane County Farmers Market during the farmers market.

We'll be offering a variety of classes and instructors June - October. Our first class is Cardio Dance by Anita S. 🪩

Whether you’re a longtime member or just passing through downtown, everyone is welcome. Bring your mat, your water, and someone who could use a midweek reset.

On Tuesday, we celebrated locally grown podded produce during Pod Fest at our Tuesday Market! 🫛

At our In Season space, Cal of Legacy Land & Food led marketgoers through making a springtime dish with green beans, hazelnuts, and lemon. Jessica Cuadra of Basil & Bees taught a planting workshop on growing peas and beans in the Willamette Valley, and sent folks home with their own starts to put in the ground.

Our free sampling table featured lots of fresh snap peas, prepared fava beans, and all kinds of raw and value-added hazelnut products (like hazelnut butter, spread, and chocolate-covered hazelnuts!) from our own vendors. Marketgoers had the opportunity to vote on which farm’s snap peas they liked most.

Our live musicians (The Big Scare) and Eugene Roller Village helped keep the vibes around market nice and snappy! Thanks to all of our vendors, presenters, special guests, attendees, and especially to Upper Willamette Soil & Water Conservation District for sponsoring this event! We couldn’t have done it without you 💚

Round up the whole family for a Little Bites tasting session with Brandywine Fisheries this Saturday, May 23rd! Stop by our In Season demo space in the Pavilion to try out their smoked salmon! Sampling is FREE and will be available from 11AM - 1PM 🎣
