If you catch my stories I have a clip of her running right up to Bubba and I in the driveway, less than 10 feet away before she thought better of it.

As for the garden, besides the cucumber seeds, I also got in another short row of soil and started the next one. These rows will be peppers and sunflowers (and probably zinnias too because I love them) 🌻

We are way behind getting things in the ground, but I rather keep pushing forward and hoping for the best than scrap it all. 🤎

We planted 4 varieties of cucumber: Ashley, Sumpter, Rhinish Pickle, & National Pickling

My hope is to have enough pickle cucumbers, dill, and garlic available to offer pickle kits at the farm stand 👀 Stay tuned!

Poor Bubba thought this tomato was done for.

It snapped clean off in the pot; no roots, no chance… or so he thought. I set it in a jar of water and we watched as tiny roots began to form along the stem.
Two weeks later, it’s in the garden like nothing ever happened 🌱
Don’t be so quick to give up on a broken plant.

Planting luffa along the archway with my girl 🌿

Luffa are heat-loving vines that need a long season, strong support, and a little patience. We start extra seeds knowing not all will sprout and that’s part of learning to grow your own.

These will climb this trellis all summer, then (if we’re lucky) dry into natural sponges right on the vine. 🥒

My girl and I put up another archway trellis today for the luffa plants to grow on 🥒

We had to dig out the goat panel roll from the dog run, use the bolt cutters to cut a hunk off the roll, hauled it over to the garden, found some zip ties, and ✨poof✨ we have an archway!

We planted 32 luffa plants that have been growing for months in the house. I have plants left if anyone is interested 🪴

Hilling potatoes 🌱🥔

As they grow, I mound soil up around the stems. This protects developing tubers from sunlight (no green potatoes!) and encourages more potatoes to form along the buried stems.

A simple step that makes a big difference at harvest time.
