We've been doing this for three years, and have always sold locally via word of mouth. Today we did our first market, and it was a success. 👏

WOW! We're blown away by the support we've received in the last month. We sold so much honey the week before and after the holidays, and we're so grateful! Even had to stash some away for ourselves to make sure we have plenty to get us though until our next harvest 😉

Did you know that bees have to visit around two million flowers just to produce one pound of honey? That's some serious dedication to crafting their delicious masterpiece!

This hive is doing SO well. It looks like we'll be extracting honey sooner than we thought. 👏

Six hives was never really the plan 😅

When we first started, the plan was to have two hives. One for Luke and one for Brad (Luke's dad). Most people say to start beekeeping with two hives so you're able to compare their health to one another. Before our bees even arrived, our mentor shared that we could purchase established colonies from his son in law, so we did 😂. Four hives was our starting point - two sets of packaged bees and two established colonies. It was really interesting to compare and contrast all four hives. We watched some thrive right off the bat while others struggled and then surprised us. Starting with four was A LOT for beginners, but well worth the reward. 🍯

We're Amber and Luke, and welcome to our hive! We're western Wisconsin beekeepers taking it one day at a time. Luke started dreaming of beekeeping in 2021, and made it a reality in 2022. I'm a photographer so there wasn't a chance I was going let this journey go undocumented. We harvested our first honey last fall, and was born.
