Our hearts are so so full this week ✨🍓

Thank you so much to everyone for coming to visit! We just picked up more strawberries this afternoon, so we are stocked for the weekend. We hope you’ll swing by, see the new shop & pick up some beautiful heart-filled organically grown produce. We’ve got so much in store, with so much space to be together.

Thank you to everyone for their best wishes, celebratory congratulations, hugs, laughter & love. It’s been so fun seeing your reactions when you walk through the new door! & for everyone wondering, yes we are still renting the old store, but we are using it for storage and an office at the moment. Our dreams are to turn it into a community kitchen, but we are focused on the new storefront at the moment & we hope your support continues to keep this dream moving in the right direction! Thank you so much for all of the support your showered us with this far, it’s an honor to do this work together, in our beautiful Perry County! We love you party people!! ❤️🥰

Everyone is welcome here!

Party people! We did it! We moved the shop into our newly renovated storefront the past 5 days! With the help of incredible movers, our construction team & of course our staff, we are ready to welcome you back to People's Provisions for our soft opening week!

I am calling this a soft opening, because its not 100% finished (we still need to hang art on the walls, receive a few more inventory deliveries & finish the back room) & in true People's Provisions fashion, the new store will be changing daily this month as we settle in with this season of our business!

Our new storefront is where 1892 unrefined used to be. When Cloie made the decision to close 1892 to open an alternative school with her husband, we had just found out that we received a Business Builder Award from the NASDA Foundation to expand our cold storage capacity. Growing in this new space was a no brainer & the team at HAAS Creative Carpentry brought my vision to life. Natural light, warm wood, bright white walls & small details to keep the character in our train station building. I think my favorite part of the whole build is our new counter & cabinetry, made with the hemlock studs from inside the walls that were torn down during demo (keep reading to see a photo!). I have no idea how old the wood is, or which small business in our little train station put them in, but it's an honor to keep some of that magic alive.

When you come to the shop this week, we simply ask for you to plan to stay a while. The new space has enough room to browse at a slower pace, where you aren't bumping into one another with your baskets. Since everything has been moved, you will need to reorient yourself with where everything is located (which will probably change a few more times). We will also be working out the kinks & finding out new flow, so we thank you in advance for your patience. & we hope every single one of you comes to see us, so the shop will be full of lots of our people!! Please come & plan to be here with us, soaking it all in.

We have strawberries again this week, organic & no spray! Asparagus is still in season & we have the second week of broccoli, lots of bunched beets, greens, herbs & so much more. Next week both of our bakers will be on vacation, so this week please come stock up on your sourdough loaves, bagels & baked goods. We had a chicken restock last week, but we are almost out of beef. With the new space, we were able to purchase our 1st whole animal because we now have a deep freezer in the storage room big enough to fit a whole beef, so beef will be coming soon! The area we are most excited about growing is the grab & go coolers, and now that they are larger in cold storage space, we have a few new products coming into the shop! Our latest is Rijuice, cold-pressed juices from Lancaster, made with local apples, greens & seasonal produce. We also picked up a freshly made batch of ready to eat meals from Healthy You Cafe yesterday, so we have lots of options for you this week!

Thank you everyone for your support. This expansion is phase 1 of our growth project in growing People's Provisions into a larger community centered food-hub. I'm really proud of our humble beginnings, a 3x4 table in the garden behind Farmers Daughters Cafe, to now, in our new & truly designed storefront. I am beyond grateful for everyone's support. Thank you for consistently showing up for us & our farmers. We are so excited to continue this journey, feeding Perry County & making our small corner of the world a more joyful, inspiring place for all.

We can't wait to see you soon!
With all my love,
Lindsay

People’s Provisions has always been a place to connect our farmers to our community. I am so thrilled to be welcoming you into our newly renovated storefront for our soft opening week, starting June 3rd!

Our new storefront has the same address, just a new front door, so you won’t miss us! We are currently using the old store as my office & our storage / inventory room. We are also going to be working out the kinks & finding our flow in the new space, so anticipate changes in the next month or so. Also, there’s SO much space, over double than before, so please come & browse. Take your time looking at everything, including our new cooler & freezer, reorient yourself with where the bread is located, milk, pickles, candies, etc. There’s more space to spread out, relax, and be together in this space.

We can’t wait to welcome you tomorrow! ✨

Why Supporting Local Farmers Matters More Than Ever 🌱

If you noticed fewer local peaches, apples, berries, or other crops this year, there's a reason.

Back in April, much of Pennsylvania experienced a hard freeze after an unusually warm start to spring. Many fruit trees and plants had already begun blooming when temperatures suddenly plunged into the 20s. For many growers, the blossoms that would have become this year's harvest were damaged or destroyed overnight. Some Pennsylvania farms lost most—or even all—of their fruit crop for the season. 🚜❄️

What many people don't realize is that farmers continue caring for those orchards, fields, and animals every day, even when a crop is lost. The bills don't stop. The work doesn't stop. The commitment to feeding our communities doesn't stop.

That's why your support at the farmers market matters so much.

When you buy local, you're helping farm families recover from challenges that are completely beyond their control. You're helping preserve farmland, strengthen our local economy, and ensure that local agriculture remains a part of our community for generations to come.

Every tomato, every loaf of bread, every bouquet of flowers, every pound of meat, and every jar of honey purchased from a local vendor helps keep these small businesses going.

This season, we encourage you to shop local whenever you can, get to know the people behind your food, and remember that every purchase is an investment in the future of agriculture right here in Central Pennsylvania.

Thank you for supporting our farmers, producers, and market vendors. We couldn't do it without you. ❤️🌽🥕🍓

One more day 🌞 Tomorrow, Friday 5/29 we are open 9-1 & then we are closed until we re-open next door in our newly renovated storefront on 6/3.

This move & expansion is so much more than a bigger store. I was reminded of that today when I picked up cheese from & saw the Jersey cows grazing on pasture, under beautiful cloud-filled skies, amongst the blue mountains. This expansion & renovation & move is so much bigger than the store.

People’s Provisions was built on the pillars that food creates community by connecting people to one another. When we all collectively contribute to our local food system, everyone can have access to nutrient dense, healthy food & when it’s grown by farmers who care as much for the soil as they do for their harvests, that food system will last for generations to come. Our all-local grocery store was built to bring that concept to life — if our incredible farmers had a place to share their food & our amazing community had a place to access the most local, delicious, human scale, regenerative food possible, then our food system could have a place to connect farmers to eaters. It would be a place to build community & feed one another. A place to support farmers. A place to distribute food to those who are facing adversity. A place to bring all of those different people together to simply be together.

None of this bigger renovated storefront would be possible if we weren’t steadfast in this mission. We are so lucky to be building this system & dream & community in Perry County, surrounded by incredible farmers & the most generous eaters. Our dreams are coming true, and our hearts are so full & we are so excited to grow into this new space with you.

The bigger store just makes this work more possible: we can support our farmers in more significant ways, we can bring more food producers into our community & we can feed a lot more people too. & that’s what we will do, for as long as we need to, until we can feed all of Perry County. It’s so much more than just a store & we can’t wait to welcome you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! See you next door! 🧡🌞🥦🍓🥬🍎✨

It's moving week, party people!

Party People, I am thrilled to announce that it is officially moving week! While the hard working crew at Haas Creative Carpentry finishes up our expansion project this week, we have finalized our schedule for moving in! We are thrilled to be opening our new doors on Wednesday June 3rd, right next to our current door! Same location, bigger & fresher room, and more than double the retail space! We are so excited to welcome you in!

We have been working on this expansion project since the Fall when we were granted the Business Builder Award from the NASDA Foundation & when Cloie decided she was closing 1892 unrefined. The timing of the grant for new coolers & their associated construction costs, as well as the opening of the space next door made for an easy decision to jump right in & grow People's Provisions. This is phase 1 of expansion & it has happened quickly due to the grant constraints which were shortened by 18 months. We are so grateful to the Haas team for making this possible on such a short timeline & everything is lining up to be completed on May 30, a day before the shortened grant deadline!

Since we just finalized our timeline today, this weekend we will be moving our coolers & produce & everything into our newly renovated space. This means that our store hours this week will be limited because we won't have a space available for shopping!

We will be open the following hours for the remainder of May:
Wednesday May 27 open 9-6
Thursday May 28 open 9-6
Friday May 29 open 9-1 *Closing early!
Saturday May 30 *CLOSED

We are postponing the scheduled Chili with the Chicks this Friday to a later day! & we will announce a Grand Re-opening party very soon!

Deliveries are scheduled as normal: milk on Friday morning, breads on Wednesday & Friday, produce on Wednesday, Mushrooms on Thursday, strawberries on Wednesday afternoon & Friday morning! Please swing by this week & wish our current store farewell!

I can't wait to share more photos with you, but here's a sneak peek. It's going to be an incredible space that we are thrilled to fill with local food & local people. We can't wait to welcome you in & build even more sustainable food systems here in Perry County. This is just phase 1, thank you for believing in us & supporting us along the way! We can't wait to welcome you to the store this week & next, it's an exciting time and you all make it possible. See you soon, party people!

With all my love,
Lindsay

& a promised sneak peek... here is the space during the 1st week of demo & then as of 7am on Wednesday 5/27 !! It's amazing & I am so excited to share this with you all!
