Welcome to the weekend! Time to unwind and relax! In between that recharge time come visit Blake’s and load up on all the fruits that are gonna help you stay hydrated. Our feature item this weekend is the Washington cherry. Quoting the man on the inside, “these are the best cherries you will ever taste.” Pick up a pint and find out for yourself. These are perfect for packing a quick snack, accompanying you on a trail adventure, or just enjoy while relaxing in your hammock in the backyard. Did you know how healthy these are too? They are packed with antioxidants which help reduce inflammation, aid in your sleep quality, and help with muscle recovery.

It’s gonna be toasty this weekend. Your best bet to stay cool is enjoying fruits high in water content. Pick out juicy red seedless watermelon ($9.99), sweet candylopes ($4.99), perfect plums ($3.99/lb), terrific tomatoes ($3.99/lb), and any citrus.

The 10 for $20 herb and veggie plant sale is still going strong. Choose from many varieties of tomatoes and peppers. Zucchini, squash, chives, cilantro, parsley, mint and thai basil are still in stock too. Ever consider growing your own watermelon? Give it a try with the watermelon plants we have in stock located near the shop doors nearest to the registers.

Welcome to What’s New Wednesday!
New inside the shop fridge today is the ruby red rhubarb. This is local folks! It’s coming in from the great garden state of New Jersey!

Speaking of the state of your garden may we suggest an addition of the exquisite tropical hibiscus. These plants are going to add a vibrant pop of color to your landscape. Tropical hibiscus are very versatile as you can plant them in the ground or choose to keep them in a pot. A huge advantage of including a tropical hibiscus in your plant collection (yes we know some of you may have little control over how many plants you choose to give forever homes 🤣) is that they are wonderful pollinator attractors. Bring the bees, butterflies, and birds to your lovely spaces.

We are in for a wonderful last weekend in May!
The sun is out and the rain is staying away!
THIS is the weekend to be outside. To encourage everyone to try out their green thumb, we have an awesome special on veggie and herb plants. Normally $2.99/each, but when you buy 10 plants you will only pay $20, a savings of about $10! If you were ever on the fence about starting a garden, now is the time to get off and plant tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, basil, chives, cilantro, mint, and many more. If you can’t find what you are looking for then our friendly staff is here to help!

Ok, so maybe you don’t have the ground space to plant a bunch of veggies? Well, maybe you start with a hanging basket full of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you can hang off a hook on your porch? A big haul just arrived and the tomatoes are already starting to ripen . You could have freshly grown tomatoes on the vine on your table tonight! We don’t think these will be hanging around for long so this is the weekend to start being a plant parent. $29.99/each

The new fruit in the shop today is the black plum. Black plums are packed with potassium, fiber, and vitamin C, all adding up to a no brainer in terms of making healthy food choices. If you don’t have plums on your list you should reconsider and give them a try. $3.99/lb

If you prefer your fruit in juice form, you can’t go wrong with one of four varieties of Natalie’s Orchid Island juices in the drink cooler. Try orange, blood orange, grapefruit juices or splurge for the strawberry lemonade. The juices are all made from only the fruit they say. The strawberry lemonade has only water and pure cane sugar added to strawberries and lemons. These are simple and full of flavor. $3.29/bottle

Every Wednesday evening is our baked goods restock! Enjoy delicious sweet breads, cookies, whoopies, and pies.

There are 10 varieties of sweet breads, banana, banana nut, zucchini nut, apple, blueberry, butter rum, cranberry orange, lemon pound, pistachio, and triple berry.

There are 5 varieties of cookies, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, monster, and ginger molasses.

There are 3 varieties of whoopies, chocolate, chocolate chip, and oatmeal.

There are 7 varieties of pies, apple, blueberry, cherry, french apple, peach, strawberry rhubarb and shoo-fly.

It’s Fri-YAY! Time to sit back, relax, and recharge. When you stop at Blake’s for all the produce and garden center goodies, you can find everything you are looking for and add more time to the relaxing part of your weekend. We got friendly staff waiting to help you find everything you are looking for. Don’t hesitate to ask.

What’s all the fuzz about? New in the shop today are the plump peaches all the way from South Carolina. “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy peaches, and that’s kind of the same thing.”- unknown author $3.99lb

The local asparagus season is still going strong. Take advantage now because before you know it it’ll be gone. $3.99/lb

The local corn won’t be in for a bit longer but in the meantime give the Georgia corn a try. Don’t be surprised if it’s a-maizing. $7.99/doz or $5.99 1/2 doz shucked

Some other notable things in the shop are our many varieties of cheeses, cream cheeses, and pickles. Don’t find yourself in a pickle when it comes to hosting a gathering. Choose one of these for a “grate” addition to your food spread.

The weekend may be a good time to get plants in the ground while it’s been softened by the rains making their way through. Choose from many varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, herbs and much more. If you prefer to create your plant garden in potted form, there are many beautiful hanging baskets and planters prepared and ready for you to choose from.

The melon/corn cart is filling up with favorites like watermelons, candylopes, and, honeydew, and corn.

Check out the garden center for a few new plants and a restock on ones we have had prior.
