❤️🌻 IN LOVING MEMORY OF MICHAEL “MIKE” POE 🌻❤️
It is with heavy hearts that our Effingham Farmers Market family shares the passing of one of our longtime, beloved vendors, Michael S. Poe, who passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the age of 76.
Some people become more than just vendors at our market. They become part of our family, part of our Saturday morning traditions, and part of the memories that make our market so special. Mike was certainly one of those people. ❤️
For years, we affectionately referred to Mike and his brother Bob as “The Poe Brothers.” 🥹
We can still picture those two faithfully showing up every Saturday morning, carrying their buckets of fresh, homegrown produce all the way from the parking lot to their familiar market spot.
No matter how heavy those buckets were, they showed up with dedication, hard work, and some of the best tomatoes around! 🍅
But what made Mike so special wasn't just what he grew. It was the friendships he built, the conversations he shared, and the familiar face his customers looked forward to seeing each week.
Mike and Bob were dearly loved by so many of our market customers, and their absence has certainly been felt.
It's the people like Mike who remind us that a farmers market is about so much more than buying and selling. It's about friendships, community, traditions, and the wonderful people who become part of our lives along the way. ❤️
We are incredibly grateful for the years Mike spent with us and for the memories he leaves behind.
