Coit Road Farmers' Market

Coit Road Farmers' Market The Coit Road Farmers Market has been providing healthy, fresh, local, affordable food to the people of Greater Cleveland since 1932.
(325)

The Coit Road Farmers Market was founded in 1932. Its forerunner dates back to World War I when a group of farmers in the Greater Cleveland area met and began to sell their produce to working people from the back of their trucks in East Cleveland and Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood. In 1932 this group formed a cooperative and purchased property at the corners of Woodworth and Coit roads in Eas

t Cleveland to establish a permanent market. In 2001, The East Cleveland Farmers Market Preservation Society (ECFM) was founded as a 501 c (3) non-profit organization to preserve the Market and continue its operations. The Market property encompasses more than four acres. The site includes a unique steel framed market building erected in 1932, two general service outbuildings, parking lots, a community garden and an urban farm. The Market is open all year and is the only fully enclosed farmers market operating at a single site year around in Northeast Ohio. Open all year on Saturdays, 8am-1pm and also on Wednesdays 10am-1pm during spring, summer, and fall.

Patty pan squash. Confusing to some because they look like winter squash but are not. They hold their shape and texture better than zucchini or yellow squash and are great in soups and stews that would dissolve lesser squashes. And you do not have to peel them!
