A quick $5 token update before Saturday’s Market 🌻
We recently discovered a small number of counterfeit $5 wooden tokens. To protect our vendors, customers, and food access programs, we are making an immediate change to how $5 tokens are handled at the Dubuque Farmers’ Market.
Starting today, vendors will no longer accept wooden $5 tokens.
If you have wooden $5 tokens, please bring them to the Vendor Information Booth. Our team will exchange them for temporary yellow plastic $5 tokens that can be used at the Market.
Here’s what shoppers need to know:
✅ Wooden $5 tokens must be exchanged before shopping
✅ Vendors will not accept wooden $5 tokens this weekend
✅ Temporary yellow plastic $5 tokens will be accepted
✅ No new $5 tokens will be sold moving forward
✅ SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks continue as usual
✅ Bringing cash will help make checkout easier for everyone
This change is being made to keep the program secure and to support the people who make this Market possible — our farmers, food makers, artists, shoppers, and community partners.
Have questions when you arrive? Stop by the Vendor Information Booth and we’ll be happy to help. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and for helping us keep the Dubuque Farmers’ Market safe, welcoming, and strong. 💚
Please share this update to help us get the word out.
